Thai Binh announced benchmark scores after inspection

After the inspection process, the Department of Education and Training announced the second round of admission scores for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year. The whole Thai Binh province has 1,532 candidates admitted to 29 high schools in the second round. The highest admission score is Nguyen Duc Canh High School with 36.6 points. The school with the lowest score is Hung Nhan High School and Thai Ninh High School with 27.1 points.

According to the regulations of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh, for candidates with the same score in the final admission criteria, the candidate with the higher total score in the Math and Literature exams will be admitted.

After 2 rounds of admission after the inspection conclusion, the whole Thai Binh province has 16,295 students passing the high school entrance exam. Of which, 14,763 students passed the first round after the inspection (525 students passed the specialized school entrance exam and 14,238 students passed the 29 high schools entrance exam).

Candidates wishing to appeal must submit an application to the exam registration office before 5:00 p.m. on August 25.

Candidates who fail to pass the entrance exam to public high schools and register for admission to private high schools and district/city Vocational Education and Continuing Education Centers according to their wishes can register for admission on the primary admission system from August 24 to 5:00 p.m. on August 27.

Private high schools and district/city vocational education and training centers organize admission exams according to assigned quotas and report to the department for approval before August 27.

This year's Thai Binh public 10th grade entrance exam took place in early June. After the scores were announced, more than 800 candidates submitted applications to appeal their exam scores.

The review results showed that many candidates (mainly candidates taking the entrance exam to Thai Binh Specialized High School and Nguyen Duc Canh High School) had their Literature and Math scores initially announced as only 2-4 points, but after the review, they increased to 8-9.5 points.

There was a case where a candidate's math exam score for grade 10 was announced to be only 3.75 points, but the re-examination result was 9.5 points (a difference of 5.75 points).

Suspecting something unusual, many parents whose children took the 10th grade entrance exam in Thai Binh province sent a complaint to Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh province, and a number of related people.

Through the investigation, the Thai Binh Provincial Inspectorate concluded that the total number of essay exams with incorrect scores was 2,769, and 1,589 candidates had incorrect admission scores. 252 candidates went from failing to passing, of which 15 candidates passed Thai Binh Specialized High School. Conversely, 15 candidates were also eliminated from the list of admitted candidates to specialized schools, and 243 candidates from the general high school exam board went from passing to failing their first choice.

The provincial inspectorate will continue to verify and clarify the responsibilities of organizations and individuals in the process of performing tasks at all stages leading to the deviation, incorrect scores of candidates, and incorrect admission results. "It is estimated that there will be dozens of people involved, who will be investigated, verified, clarified and strictly handled by the authorities according to the provisions of law," said a representative of the provincial inspectorate.
