On the afternoon of October 22, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) announced that Mr. Anthony Hudson would take over the position of head coach of the national team. This happened less than 24 hours after firing Japanese coach Masatada Ishii, who left the hot seat yesterday (October 21).
Coach Hudson (44 years old) was appointed as Technical Director of FAT in June 2025 until now, so the decision to appoint the position of coach of the "war elephants" is considered very reasonable. Because the British strategist has had time to work and understands the football environment in Southeast Asia, as well as Thailand in particular.
According to Madam Pang - President of FAT, appointing Mr. Hudson is the most suitable temporary solution in the limited time. "National team football is not a laboratory. Each match only has 90 minutes of performance and I want the result to decide the fans' trust" - Ms. Pang said.

Before being appointed to this position, Mr. Hudson led BG Pathum United, achieving a winning rate of over 58%. This was the foundation that helped him receive attention and appointment from FAT.
During his career, this strategist has led the US team (interim) in 2022-2023, New Zealand - participating in the play-off round for a ticket to the 2018 World Cup and the national team level, U23 Bahrain. In addition, he also has experience leading a number of teams in the US, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
According to the plan, the British strategist will be introduced to fans when he and the Thai team play a friendly match with Singapore on November 13. After that, the "war elephants" will march to Sri Lanka's field on November 18 in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Thailand's final Asian Cup qualifier will be against Turkmenistan at home on March 31, 2026.
This is considered an important test for coach Hudson in his new position.
