Thai Nguyen has over 22,600 hectares of forest with FSC certification.

In recent times, Thai Nguyen province has promoted sustainable forest management and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) forest certification to increase the economic value of forests, protect the ecological environment and improve the lives of people in mountainous areas.

According to the Thai Nguyen Forest Protection Department, to date, the whole province has had more than 22,637 hectares of forest granted FSC certification, equal to 1,616% of the plan for the 2021-2025 period. In the first 9 months of 2025 alone, the newly granted area reached over 8,600 hectares. Along with that, there are currently 6/7 special-use forests and 1 forest owner which is an economic organization developing a sustainable forest management plan according to international standards.

Developing forests with FSC certification helps wood and forest products from Thai Nguyen qualify for export to demanding markets such as Europe, Japan, and the US, while increasing the value of wood by 10-15% compared to normal forests.

In addition to economic efficiency, this model also contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting water resources, forest land and changing people's forestry production practices in a more friendly and professional direction. Especially in ethnic minority areas, FSC forest planting has become a new direction to help increase income, create stable jobs and connect people with forest protection work.

Thai Nguyen aims to expand the area of ​​FSC-certified forests in the coming time, associated with the development of a sustainable wood production - processing - consumption chain, towards a green, efficient and responsible forestry industry.
