Thai Nguyen rises in the new era Final article: Towards the region's digital growth pole

The pioneering issuance of a specialized resolution on digital transformation since 2020 has made Thai Nguyen a national highlight. After nearly 5 years, with three pillars - digital government, digital economy, digital society, the province has not only achieved its set goals but also opened up the aspiration to become an innovation center of the entire Northern Midlands and Mountains region.

Digital government - the driving force for innovation in governance models

Identifying digital transformation as the driving force for innovation in governance models, Thai Nguyen province has vigorously deployed from technical infrastructure, data platforms to public services. By August 2025, the index of serving people and businesses reached 83.83 points, ranking first in the country. 25/25 essential public services were integrated and connected to the National Population Database, along with more than 1.03 million authenticated citizen accounts.

The electronic document management system covers 100% of state agencies with 12,000 accounts; more than 39,500 digital certificates and 21,800 official mailboxes have been issued. The LGSP data sharing platform processes over 6.3 million transactions. These figures not only reflect modern administrative capacity, but also affirm Thai Nguyen's pioneering position in building digital government.

Director of the Department of Science and Technology Duong Huu Buong emphasized: “Thai Nguyen has not only built a modern e-government, but also put people and businesses at the center of service. This is an important factor that helps the province always be in the leading group of the country in digital transformation.”

The C-ThaiNguyen application has become an effective bridge between the government and the people. As of July 31, 2025, the application had 450,000 downloads, receiving nearly 4,800 on-site reports. In addition, the province is testing the G-ThaiNguyen application to integrate and report the indicators of Resolution 57-NQ/TW, connecting directly with the Government , improving the effectiveness of direction and administration.

Strong digital economy, digital society

Along with digital government, digital transformation has created a strong boost for Thai Nguyen's economy. 100% of businesses and business households in the area apply electronic invoices; more than 180 online sales websites are operating vigorously. The "Ban Viet - Thai Nguyen" agricultural products stall on Shopee achieved sales of over VND 816 billion in the first 6 months of 2025. 4.0 markets have been deployed throughout the province with 127 qualified markets, and more than 513,000 customers using Mobile Money services.

In particular, the total digital economic revenue in the first 6 months of 2025 reached about 14.24 billion USD. This is a testament to the province's breakthrough in combining digital technology with production, trade, and services, opening up room for sustainable growth.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Director of an e-commerce enterprise in Thai Nguyen shared: "Thanks to the province's support in training online business skills, we can bring our products to customers nationwide. Revenue has doubled compared to before and the potential for development in the future is very open."

Regarding the digital society pillar, Thai Nguyen has issued more than 578,000 free public digital signatures to adults, integrating 551,740 electronic health records. Digital education, digital hospitals, digital citizen models, and digital government applications have been deployed synchronously, spreading practical benefits to each citizen.

A special mark is the Digital Studio, a collaborative product between the University of Information Technology and Communications (Thai Nguyen University) and businesses. The 3D animated film "De Men - Adventure to the Swamp" released in 2025 earned 20 billion VND, affirming the potential of the digital cultural industry. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Phung Trung Nghia, Principal of the University of Information Technology and Communications, this cooperation model not only helps businesses save production costs but also improves the quality of training when students are exposed to practical experience right from the classroom.

Recently, the Steering Committee for the implementation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW of Thai Nguyen province has deployed 26 products, including 4 projects, 2 software and 20 application models. Digital platforms in garment, passenger transport, STEM/STEAM education, digital schools, digital hospitals, etc. have been proving their effectiveness.

Notably, on March 30, 2025, the University of Information and Communications Technology also signed a cooperation agreement with the OKX Blockchain platform, opening a new direction to become the leading Blockchain training center in Vietnam.

Not stopping at the current achievements, Thai Nguyen continues to deploy Yen Binh Concentrated IT Park with a scale of nearly 200 hectares, focusing on R&D, AI, semiconductors, IoT, UAV. This will be a high-tech center, attracting investment, training high-quality human resources and playing the role of the region's innovation nucleus. At the same time, the province has signed a memorandum of cooperation on investing in a Data Center with Korean enterprises, solving the problem of energy infrastructure; consolidating its position as a major technology manufacturing center of the country.

Confidence and self-reliance in the digital age

The leaders of Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee affirmed that digital development associated with green development is the path that Thai Nguyen firmly chooses. This is the key for the province to make a strong breakthrough, promote internal strength, take advantage of external strength, and aim to become the center of innovation of the whole region.

According to Resolution 11-NQ/TW dated February 10, 2022 of the Politburo, Thai Nguyen is identified as a growth pole, an economic and industrial center of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region. The province is steadfastly pursuing two strategic pillars: digital development and green development. This is a breakthrough choice, based on the philosophy of "self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, and national pride".

Telling numbers, innovative products and strategic projects are opening up a new development space for Thai Nguyen. With an established foundation, Thai Nguyen has every basis to confidently move forward, becoming a center of innovation and digital transformation not only for the Northern Midlands and Mountains but also for the whole country in the near future.
