According to the Department of Irrigation, in the Northern region (including Hanoi), total rainfall in September 2024 is generally from 180 - 350mm, 10 - 30% higher than the average of many years in the same period.
In the Northern region, the flow on rivers is generally at approximately the same level and 5 - 15% lower than the average of many years. Floods will appear on the Northern rivers with peak water levels on main rivers at the alarm level (BĐ1), and small rivers at levels BĐ1 - BĐ2.
It is forecasted that by the end of October 2024, the average storage capacity of irrigation reservoirs will be around 90 - 100% of the design capacity. The basic water source will ensure the supply for agricultural production in the provinces and cities in the midlands and the Northern Delta.
Also according to the Department of Irrigation, in August 2024, the midland and delta regions of the North had common rain from 200 - 320mm, lower than the average of many years from 5 - 15%. Thuong Cat station (Hanoi) measured the highest rainfall with 375mm.
In Hanoi, in August 2024, there were 2 heavy rains causing flooding. Of which, the first period from August 1-2, 2024 caused flooding for 668 hectares of crop area; the second period from August 23-24, 2024 also caused flooding for 443 hectares of crop area.
