The two relics "Forward Surgical Station" and "Dang Van Hoa Tomb" (Phong Thai Ward, Hue City) have just been ranked as National Monuments by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
In Decision No. 3242/QD-BVHTTDL dated September 9, 2025, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism ranked the Forward Surgical Station Site (Phong Thai Ward, Hue City) as a national monument.
The "Forward Surgical Station" location was located in Trieu Duong village (now Phong Thai ward, Hue city) to serve the 1975 Spring campaign taking place in the northern wing of the Tri Thien - Hue battlefield.
This is the place associated with the heroic sacrifice of 33 martyrs in the battle on March 12, 1975. At the same time, it is the place that marks the crimes of the enemy when they killed wounded and sick soldiers who were no longer able to fight and had no weapons in their hands.
In 2019, the Forward Surgical Station Site was recognized as a provincial-level relic. Since then, the Veterans Liaison Committee of Regiment 4, the unit that fought at this site, has coordinated with local authorities and agencies to renovate, restore and build a number of works such as: Welcome Gate; Reception and Exhibition House; Cellar - Operating Table; Stele House; Mass Grave; Roads, Trees and Technical Infrastructure Items.
The national relic ranking of the Forward Surgical Station Site not only contributes to enriching the system of historical and cultural relics in Hue city, but also has the meaning of educating the young generation about the tradition of revolutionary struggle and the tradition of patriotism full of humanity.
In Decision No. 3243/QD-BVHTTDL dated September 9, 2025, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism also ranked Dang Van Hoa Tomb (Phong Thai Ward, Hue City) as a national monument.
Dang Van Hoa (1791 - 1856), nickname Le Trai, was born and raised in Thanh Luong village (now Kim Tra ward, Hue city). According to Nguyen dynasty history, his son Dang Huy Cat married Princess Nguyen Phuc Tinh Hoa (daughter of King Minh Mang). Dang Van Hoa was the second son of Dang Quang Tuan (fourth generation of the Dang family). His mother was Phan Thi Han, from Thanh Luong village.
Dang Van Hoa was one of the founders of the Nguyen Dynasty in Thua Thien, a "Four-dynasty elder", serving as an official for nearly 40 years, under four kings: Gia Long; Minh Mang; Thieu Tri; Tu Duc. He was a famous official who was diligent, modest, and honest.
In the dynasty, there were 6 Ministries, and he held the position of Minister, leading 5 Ministries (Military, Public Works, Justice, Finance, and Rites). He was famous for being a very honest and upright mandarin, leaving behind many merits for the benefit of the country and people in the fields of politics, agriculture, and culture.
In Hue, Dang Van Hoa was the one who contributed to erecting the Vo Cong stele; casting the bell of Dieu De pagoda; donating 6 large bells, 2 stone steles, many Buddha statues, horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences to Hoang Giac (Hien Sy); Bac Vong Dong; Bac Vong Tay; Thanh Luong, Hoa Vien pagodas... Currently, the bells, stone steles and Buddha statues are still in the pagodas he donated...
Dang Van Hoa's tomb located in Con Lenh cemetery (now in Phong Thai ward, Hue city) was ranked as a provincial-level historical relic in 2013. The upgrading of Dang Van Hoa's tomb to a national relic is to recognize his merits and contributions./.
