The 2024 Paris Olympics will officially take place from July 26 to August 11. June is the final month for all Olympic qualifying events. Vietnamese sports will have just over 2 months to find more spots.

Currently, Vietnamese sports delegations are still participating in the Olympic qualifying tournaments of many sports, including: Athletics, swimming, weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, fencing, rowing, canoeing, shooting, archery, gymnastics, table tennis...

Tennis player Nguyen Thuy Linh has almost “touched both hands” on the first ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics in badminton. The player from Phu Tho is just waiting for the Badminton World Federation (BWF) to announce the official list of qualified players to go to Paris on April 28. Thuy Linh is currently ranked 23rd in the world and is still actively participating in tournaments to accumulate more points, thereby being able to squeeze into the group of seeded players at the Olympics.

In the men's singles, fans have high hopes for tennis player Le Duc Phat. With his achievement of reaching the semi-finals of the Kazakhstan International Challenge 2024, Le Duc Phat has accumulated 2,800 more points, helping this tennis player maintain his ranking until the Paris Olympic qualifying round ends at the end of April.

In the current Olympic Badminton qualifying rankings, Duc Phat is ranked 34th with 22,350 points. Duc Phat is in a "battle" with 3 other players, all of whom are temporarily holding the passport to Paris 2024, including: Dmitriy Pararin (Kazakhstan), ranked 71st in the world, holds the 31st place with 22,995 points; Danylo Bosniuk (Ukraine), ranked 72nd in the world, holds the 32nd place with 22,939 points; Luis Ramon Garrido (Mexico), ranked 73rd in the world, holds the 33rd place with 22,799 points.

The official list of players qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics will be announced by BWF on April 28.

In addition to the Top 34 spots, BWF will also have 4 more wildcard spots for tennis players. This is also an opportunity for Vietnamese tennis players to win tickets.

Vietnamese swimming will almost have the second official ticket to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics and the result belongs to athlete Nguyen Huy Hoang.

At ASIAD 19, Huy Hoang's performance in the above distance met the Olympic B standard and according to the ranking calculation up to this point, Huy Hoang is safe in being awarded an additional place to compete in the upcoming Olympics. At ASIAD 19, the Vietnamese swimmer ranked 4th in the 1,500m freestyle distance with the final swimming parameter of 15'04"06. Currently, Huy Hoang's ranking in the content ranking group to compete for Olympic tickets with the achieved B standard result is 37 and according to forecasts, the 2024 Olympic ticket is almost certain in this athlete's hands.

The International Aquatics Federation (FINA) will officially announce the names of the athletes who have qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics in swimming on June 24. If successful, this will be the second time in his career that Huy Hoang has met the standards to compete in two events (also considered two official places) at one Olympics.

Trinh Van Vinh is the 6th Vietnamese athlete to receive a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics through official qualifying results, after Nguyen Thi That (cycling), Trinh Thu Vinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting), Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming, 800m freestyle) and Vo Thi Kim Anh (boxing).

The Vietnamese rowing team is currently focusing on the Olympic qualifying round of the Asia- Pacific region in Korea. This tournament will start on April 15 and Vietnamese rowing (women's light sculls) hopes to qualify for the Olympics for the fourth consecutive time.

In 2018, Vietnam won a gold medal in rowing at the ASIAD hosted by Indonesia with 4 athletes: Pham Thi Thao, Ta Thanh Huyen, Luong Thi Thao and Ho Thi Ly. Unfortunately, at the recent ASIAD 19, the host country China did not organize the lightweight rowing events, making it impossible for Vietnam to defend its top position and also not be able to win a ticket to the Olympics in this event.

The shooting team hopes to have at least one more official spot to participate in the Olympics from the final Olympic qualifying round taking place in Brazil from April 11 to 19. Hope is placed on the shoulders of Asian Games 19 champion Pham Quang Huy and his teammate Lai Cong Minh in the men's 10m air pistol; Ha Minh Thanh in the 25m rapid fire pistol or Phi Thanh Thao in the women's 10m and 50m rifle.

The swimming team with two athletes Nguyen Huy Hoang and Tran Hung Nguyen are also trying their best to compete in the age group tournament in Thailand - a playground with Olympic standards.

Table tennis will compete in the Olympic qualifying round in early May in Bangkok (Thailand). Currently, the table tennis team with 4 players Nguyen Anh Tu, Dinh Anh Hoang, Mai Hoang My Trang, Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh is training long-term in Nanning (China). The women's athletics relay team will not participate in the World Championship in Bahamas in May, but will instead participate in the Asian Championship in June in Thailand to compete for a ticket to the Olympics. Thailand will also be the venue for the final Olympic qualifying round for boxing in June.

Vietnamese sports received good news in early April when weightlifter Trinh Van Vinh won an official spot to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics in the men's 61kg weightlifting category. This is considered a great source of encouragement for many athletes in other sports to strive and contribute more to bring home more spots for the country's sports to participate in this year's Summer Olympics.

Trinh Van Vinh also helped Vietnam weightlifting to participate in the Olympic arena for the 6th consecutive time. Weightlifting is also the second most successful team of Vietnam sports at the Olympic arena (1 silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 1 bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics), after shooting (1 gold medal and 1 silver medal).

Shooting and weightlifting are the two sports in which Vietnamese athletes have a chance to compete for medals when competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
