Cryptocurrency market today, October 16: A securities company wants to invest another hundred billion

(NLDO) - Bitcoin is gradually losing its appeal to retail investors despite continuously hitting new peaks in 2025.

On the evening of October 16, the cryptocurrency market continued to make a slight adjustment. According to data from the OKX exchange, in the past 24 hours, the price of Bitcoin (BTC) decreased by 0.3%, to about 111,100 USD.

Other cryptocurrencies (altcoins) also fell, such as Ethereum (ETH) lost more than 1% to $4,042, XRP decreased nearly 2% to $2.4, Solana (SOL) decreased nearly 3% to $196. BNB alone increased slightly by 0.5% to $1,180.

According to CoinTelegraph , despite continuously reaching new peaks in 2025, Bitcoin is gradually losing its appeal to retail investors.

Data from CryptoQuant shows that demand for Bitcoin has dropped the most since April, while Google searches for Bitcoin hit a low and the Coinbase app fell from 3rd to 29th place on the US App Store – reflecting the cooling of personal money flows.

After a sell-off of more than $20 billion last weekend, the fear and greed index plummeted from 71 to 24 points – the deepest “fear” zone since April.

CryptoQuant believes that market sentiment is extremely pessimistic, with trading quiet even though Bitcoin prices are still anchored around the cycle peak.
