The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that today, October 5, the weather in the North will have showers and thunderstorms in some places. The Northeast region will have heavy rain in some places from this afternoon, and very heavy rain in some places tonight. The Northwest region will have showers and heavy rain in some places from tonight.

The Central Highlands and the South will have showers and thunderstorms in some places, with heavy rain in some places in the evening. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

Regarding storm Matmo, the storm is moving in the West Northwest direction at a speed of 20-25km/h. It is forecasted that this evening the storm will pass the Leizhou peninsula, China and head towards the mainland of Quang Ninh .

From this afternoon, the sea area east of the northern Gulf of Tonkin (including Bach Long Vi special zone) will have winds gradually increasing to level 6-7, then increasing to level 8-9. From this evening, the northern Gulf of Tonkin (including Bach Long Vi, Van Don, Co To, Cat Hai and Hon Dau island) will have winds gradually increasing to level 8-9, waves 2-4m high, the area near the storm center will have strong winds of level 10-11, gusts of level 14, waves 3-5m high, rough seas, very dangerous for ships.

Coastal areas and islands from Quang Ninh to Hai Phong provinces have storm surges of 0.4-0.6m. Beware of flooding in low-lying coastal areas and river mouths.

The weather at sea and in coastal areas during the storm is extremely dangerous, unsafe for any ships or structures to operate.
