Weather on September 10: The North and Thanh Hoa have rain, some places have very heavy rain

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, during the day and night of September 10, while many inland areas had heavy rain, some very heavy rain, at sea there continued to be strong gusts of wind and high waves.

Many areas of heavy rain

During the day and night of September 10, the Northern region and Thanh Hoa will have rain, moderate rain, locally heavy rain to very heavy rain with rainfall of 20-50mm, locally over 120mm. Warning of risk of heavy rain over 100mm/3 hours.

In the evening and night of September 10, Nghe An , the Central Highlands and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain with rainfall of 10-30mm, and some places experiencing over 70mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain over 70mm/3 hours.

"Thunderstorms are likely to cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains can cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas," noted Deputy Head of the Weather Forecasting Department Le Thi Loan.

On the night of September 9 and early morning of September 10, the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, the Central Highlands and the Southern region will have localized showers and thunderstorms.

Potential for tornadoes and strong gusts of wind in many coastal areas

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting informs that currently in the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from Ca Mau to An Giang , the Gulf of Thailand and the eastern sea area of the South China Sea, there are scattered showers and thunderstorms.

It is forecasted that during the day and night of September 10, the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from Lam Dong to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to An Giang, the Gulf of Thailand, and the South China Sea (including Truong Sa special zone) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6-7, and waves over 2 meters high.

All vessels operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.

To proactively respond to strong winds and high waves at sea, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment recommends that affected provinces and cities closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of strong winds and high waves at sea; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur.

Northwest

Nghe An to Hue area

- Sunny day; showers and thunderstorms in some places in the late afternoon and night, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain, with the possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind in thunderstorms. Southwest wind level 2-3.

- Lowest temperature 25-28 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 32-35 degrees Celsius.

South Central Coast region

- Sunny day; showers and thunderstorms in some places in the late afternoon and night. During thunderstorms there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Southwest wind level 2-3.

- Lowest temperature 24-27 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 31-34 degrees Celsius, some places above 34 degrees Celsius.

Central Highlands region

- There will be scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places; in the afternoon and evening there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain in some places, with the possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Southwest wind level 2-3.

- Lowest temperature 20-23 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 29-32 degrees Celsius.

Southern region
