Weather on October 15: Thunderstorms expand in the North and North Central regions

Last night and early morning of October 15, rain appeared widely in the Northeast and the area from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri. Some places recorded heavy rainfall such as Binh Lieu station ( Quang Ninh ) 123.2mm; Dong Tam (Quang Ninh) 71.6mm; Thong Nhat (Thanh Hoa) 92.8mm; Xuan Minh (Thanh Hoa) 79mm.

The meteorological agency warned that thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains may cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas.

At sea, the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from Quang Tri to Hue, from Ca Mau to An Giang and the Gulf of Thailand will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. It is forecasted that during the day and night of October 15, this area may experience tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6-7, and waves over 2m high.

Authorities recommend that vessels operating in the above sea areas should proactively avoid strong winds and big waves, closely monitor weather forecasts and take measures to ensure safety when going to sea.
