Budget revenue reaches 1 quadrillion VND in the first half of 2024

The State Treasury said that the accumulated State budget revenue up to June 30, 2024 reached VND 1,027 trillion, equivalent to 60.4% of the 2024 estimate. Compared to the same period last year, the state budget revenue increased by 6.3%, equivalent to VND 150,972 billion.

Regarding regular expenditure activities in the first 6 months of the year, the State Treasury spent VND 484,035 billion, equivalent to 38% of the 2024 estimate. Compared to the same period, the expenditure level in the first 6 months of the year was VND 28,135 billion higher. However, compared to the 2024 estimate, it was still 0.4% lower.

Besides, public investment expenditure activities from the State budget have paid 185,767 billion VND, equivalent to 27.8% of the whole year plan.

Another notable point is that in the first 6 months of the year, the State Treasury issued VND156,502 billion in government bonds. Compared to the 2024 plan, the State Treasury has completed 39% of the plan. Government bonds are issued by bidding, with terms from 5-30 years. The average term in 2024 is 10.89 years.

The issuance of government bonds in 2024 has helped maintain the average maturity of the government bond portfolio at 9.03 years. The average interest rate in 2024 reached 2.33%/year, much lower than the 3.21%/year in 2023.

Adjusting the average interest rate of government bonds is in line with market developments as well as the monetary policy management of the State Bank in 2024.
