Rumors of 'kidnapping students' on social networks in Da Nang are false

On October 18, the police of Hoa Khanh ward, Da Nang city, said that the information spread on social networks about a male student studying at a local university being kidnapped, taken to Cambodia, and then being asked for a ransom of 250 million VND, was false.

Recently, on social networks, false information has been spread about the kidnapping of a male student named “Tin” from class KHTN25 of a university in Da Nang city. Immediately after receiving the information, Hoa Khanh Ward Police urgently coordinated with functional units and the school to verify and clarify.

Through the verification process, the Police Department confirmed that the information about the "student kidnapping" incident was completely fabricated and untrue.

Through working with relevant units and the school on the student situation, all students of the school are safe, there have been no cases of kidnapping, detention or loss of contact as spread content. Regarding personal information, through checking the KHTN25 class list, the police agency confirmed that there is no student named "Tin" as mentioned in the posts on social networks.

Hoa Khanh Ward Police are coordinating with professional units of the City Police to urgently verify the subject who spread this false information to strictly handle it in accordance with the provisions of the law.

The police agency warned that any act of taking advantage of social networks to spread fabricated, distorted news, or disrupt security and order will be strictly handled. At the same time, it advised people, officials, lecturers and students to raise their vigilance against fake news on social networks: Absolutely do not share, comment or spread unverified information; carefully check the source of information before posting; immediately notify the police agency or local authorities when discovering false information.

The police also called on people to join hands in building a safe and healthy cyberspace, contributing to maintaining security and order in the area.
