“Festival Thang Long - Hanoi 2025” is directed by the Hanoi People's Committee, chaired by the Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with domestic and international departments, branches, localities, provinces and cities. The event aims to honor the value of the thousand-year-old cultural heritage of Thang Long - Hanoi, spread the spirit of "Heritage - Connection - Time", and affirm Hanoi's position in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. The opening ceremony was held on the evening of November 7 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel and closed on the evening of November 16 at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square.
The festival has many outstanding activities, including the 2025 Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival (held annually for the 4th time) at the Hanoi Museum and Hoan Kiem Lake area with many activities honoring the beauty of traditional Ao Dai associated with the cultural and tourism values of the Capital. The expanded Hanoi Puppetry Festival and the Discussion "Preserving and promoting the Puppetry Art Heritage in Contemporary Life". The play "Thang Long Capital" at Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the program "Ngoc Son Mysterious Night" at Ngoc Son Temple.

In addition, the Festival also celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Tug of War Ritual and Game being recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, with the International Workshop "A Decade of Protecting and Promoting Tug of War Ritual and Game", along with exchange activities and tug of war performances with the participation of international delegations (Korea and some countries) and 10 heritage practicing communities from provinces and cities in the country (Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Lao Cai Ninh Binh, Phu Tho and Hanoi City).
Information about this event at the press conference on the afternoon of October 21 in Hanoi, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Le Thi Anh Mai said that the Thang Long - Hanoi Festival will be held annually and is a special highlight activity of the year to attract tourists to the capital. In 2025, the festival will be held in many spaces symbolizing the heritage and creativity of the capital such as Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Ngoc Son Temple, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Hanoi Museum, Hoan Kiem Lake. With more than 30 unique cultural, artistic and tourism activities during the 10 days of the program, the festival is not only a large-scale cultural festival, but also an experiential journey, a space connecting the past - present - future, where every citizen and every tourist can deeply feel the cultural pulse of the capital.

According to the Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the Thang Long - Hanoi Festival 2025 is also an opportunity for Hanoi to demonstrate its spirit of integration, creativity and responsibility in preserving heritage - turning traditional cultural values into new inspiration for art, tourism and modern life. Through a series of events, the capital city of Hanoi affirms its image as a "Creative City - where heritage lives with the times", while strongly promoting the Vietnamese cultural brand to the world.
Director of the festival opening ceremony Pham Hoang Giang also revealed that this is the longest festival ever prepared. The organizing committee spent about 6 months on this work. According to director Pham Hoang Giang, organizing a long festival is necessary so that people and tourists have the opportunity to experience the most and most thoroughly the cultural heritage and cultural quintessence of the capital.

Regarding the activities at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam within the framework of this festival, Dr. Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, said that visitors will experience a series of activities "Heritage Convergence", displaying traditional craft products of the three capitals (Thang Long - Hue - Hoa Lu) and the Central Highlands provinces; Hanoi Flavors culinary culture and creative craft and design activities at Van Lake. The Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam is also the venue for many other highlight activities such as: Fashion show "Ao Dai on the Heritage Road"; Painting exhibition "Thanh Tan Hanoi"; art programs "Oh Hanoi", "Red River calls the great forest"; exhibition "Heritage and the Future"; International scientific seminar on East-West educational and cultural heritage.
Hanoi Museum also said that within the framework of the festival, the public will be able to visit the exhibition “Archaeological discoveries from the Vuon Chuoi relic”, the “Solo puppetry” space - where folk puppetry is renewed through performances and interactive experiences. In particular, the highlight is the international art program “Eternal Moments” with the participation of Swiss composer Dominique Barthassat and creative community groups in Hanoi.
