Indigestion after eating baguette sold near school gate
Ms. Thanh Huong (25 years old, in Long Binh ward, Ho Chi Minh City) said that she works at a drawing center. At around 6:00 p.m. on September 23, she, two other teachers, and four students ate baguettes sold near the gate of VS school. After eating, she and the children developed symptoms such as stomachache, vomiting, diarrhea, high fever, fatigue, etc. Her family took her to the emergency room at Thu Duc General Hospital, while another teacher was taken to Le Van Thinh Hospital, and the other to Le Van Viet Hospital. The remaining four students were hospitalized elsewhere, including one child admitted to Vinmec Hospital and diagnosed with an intestinal infection.
"From 1 pm on September 24, I was unconscious until the evening of September 25. I am still tired, have a fever of 39, 40 degrees, and my arms and legs are so tired that I can't even hold the phone," Ms. Huong recounted.
Similarly, Ms. KNP (45 years old, in Long Binh ward, Ho Chi Minh City) said that on the morning of September 23, while walking with her daughter, she passed by a bakery opposite the VS school gate. "Because the child had a poor appetite and only ate a little, I ate the leftovers. After a while of eating, I started to feel uncomfortable, had a headache, vomited, and had diarrhea," Ms. P. shared.

My husband, who flew back to his hometown that afternoon, also had a fever and vomited, but it was less severe than the children's," Ms. Thuy recounted.

Specialist Doctor 2 Tran Thanh Sang, Director of Thu Duc Regional Medical Center, said that the center has received information about the incident and is collecting data and detailed information to report to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.
"People experiencing symptoms of digestive disorders such as vomiting, fever, abdominal pain... should go to medical facilities for examination," Dr. Sang recommended.
Regarding the bakery opposite the VS school gate - where many people reported symptoms of poisoning and digestive disorders - they also spoke up on the HVHG.P group. Accordingly, Ms. Mai Tran (working at the bakery) said that the shop had also received information because of unfortunate unexpected incidents affecting the health of everyone and the children. The shop will temporarily stop selling during this time and send samples for testing, re-checking the entire process.
