The city's transport sector proposed to invest 12,300 billion VND to open many roads and intersections connecting 6 highways and Ring Roads 3 and 4 to clear gateways and increase investment efficiency.
The content stated in the dispatch was just sent by the Department of Transport to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee after reviewing the current status and traffic connection needs with expressways and beltways in the area.
The planning of the Ho Chi Minh City area includes 6 expressways and two belt roads 3 and 4, with a total length of about 628 km and a scale of 6-10 lanes. Of which, two expressways have been put into operation: Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay and Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong. The Ben Luc - Long Thanh and Belt Road 3 routes are under construction. The remaining projects have not yet been invested.

In the orientation of opening more connections with the above routes, the Department of Transport assessed that it is necessary to soon implement 8 projects with a capital demand of 12,300 billion VND. In particular, in the direction to the West, the two branches Tan Tao - Cho Dem, Binh Thuan - Cho Dem connecting the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway are proposed to be opened to 8 lanes and make intersections for synchronous exploitation.
In the direction to the East, the city's transport sector also proposed to add an entrance and exit, connecting Long Phuoc Street, Thu Duc City via the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay route, parallel with the plan to expand this highway. Connecting the above routes is considered to promote the economic and social development of the creative urban area in the East of the city.
Regarding the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, the Department of Transport also recommended early investment in completing the intersection with local routes, such as National Highway 50, Nguyen Van Tao Street, and Rung Sac Street, to synchronize traffic connections and effectively invest in the expressway. Particularly, Ring Road 3, the intersection connecting Phuoc Thien and Go Cong streets, the Cat Lai - Phu Huu inter-port route, the new Northwest road, and the extension of Vo Van Kiet Street... were also proposed for implementation.
In addition to the above projects, the Department of Transport proposed many projects connecting through the Ring Road 4 routes and the expressway that is about to be invested such as Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai, Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh... To soon implement some urgent projects, in 2024 the capital demand for preparing documents to propose investment policies is about 500 million VND.
