On April 9, the Secretariat of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) held a press conference to announce ASEAN's participation in the World Expo 2025, scheduled to take place from April 13 to October 13 in Osaka, Kansai (Japan), with the theme "Designing the future society for our lives."

Speaking at a press conference, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Enterprise and Member General of the ASEAN Secretariat at the World Expo, Mr. Nararya Soeprapto, emphasized the importance of the Expo to ASEAN-Japan relations.

He said the World Expo serves as an important platform for countries to work together to address global challenges. ASEAN's presence underscores the bloc's commitment to an integrated, resilient and people-centered region.

According to this official, 2025 is an important year when the ASEAN Vision 2045 is expected to be adopted.

Also at the press conference, Japanese Ambassador to ASEAN Kiya Masahiko expressed Japan's strong support for ASEAN's participation in the World Expo 2025, and encouraged ASEAN people to take advantage of this opportunity to visit the Expo and explore the rest of Japan.

The press conference was connected with the ASEAN Expo group at the Osaka end and a question and answer session was held to provide further information to the press.

Under the theme “Building Bridges,” ASEAN’s participation in the World Expo 2025 aims to foster links with participating countries, organizations and the public. The ASEAN Pavilion will showcase the region’s diversity and dynamism, highlight ASEAN’s role as an important trade and investment destination, and promote the region’s rich cultural heritage.

The ASEAN Pavilion will be officially opened by ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn.

The ASEAN Pavilion will showcase cooperation initiatives, including the ASEAN-Japan partnership, interactive games such as the ASEAN Trail Challenge, and engaging cultural and musical performances.

It is expected that the 58th ASEAN Day celebration on August 8 will also be held at this event, contributing to honoring the long-standing friendship between ASEAN and Japan./.
