Painting exhibition "Countryside Colors 7": The beauty of the homeland blends with the colors of flowers

In October 2025, at the Digital Fine Arts Exhibition Hall at 16 Ngo Quyen (Hanoi), artist Quynh Thom opened her solo exhibition "Countryside Colors 7", introducing to domestic and international audiences about 100 paintings divided into two spaces: the beauty of the homeland and the elegance of thousands of roses.

This is not the first time artist Quynh Thom has brought "Sac Que" to the public. He has organized a series of "Sac Que" thematic exhibitions in recent years, especially the impressive "Sac Que" 5 and 6 held in the spring-summer of 2025, marking a new step forward in the use of color and emotion. "Sac Que 7" continues to promise a personal transformation, in addition to preserving memories of the homeland, it also opens the soul through the image of roses as a symbol that is both elegant and familiar, containing a deeper layer of emotion.

The number of 56 rose paintings corresponding to the artist's age is a delicate detail, expressing the desire to share and harmonize personal identity with natural images that the artist has always cherished. From there, the exhibition opens a journey back to the origin, also carrying a narrative, suggesting a stopping point to look back at oneself in the artistic journey.

Foreign collectors selected paintings with the theme of homeland landscapes by artist Quynh Thom for their collections.

The theme of paintings about the homeland adds more meaning to the exhibition space. Here, artist Quynh Thom continues her familiar tone: roofs, dirt roads, rice fields, bamboo hedges, ponds, country markets... and what makes viewers stop is not the realism but the emotions, the silence between the brush strokes.

In the previous series of exhibitions "Country Colors", the artist boldly used warm colors, combining light and shadow to create depth in the countryside scene. This time, besides the continuity, there is also a process of honing the technique expressed through a more solid block, a balance between solid lines, more subtle quiet lines and the "echo" in the painting that helps the view not be overwhelmed but "hear" the soul of the countryside inside.

"Countryside Colors 7" will have a space that continues the beauty of the Vietnamese countryside.

Paintings about the homeland evoke places, but more importantly, it is the spiritual world expressed through the appreciation of simple things, childhood memories, the multi-layered nature of rural life in the present when many places are urbanized, when people are increasingly hurried. Through each layer of paint, each brush stroke, viewers can feel the breath of the fields, the sound of birds in the wind, the smell of ripe rice fields...

The 56 rose paintings are a breath of fresh air, a symbol of love, beauty, fragility and resilience, received as a personal language that is both intimate and carries its own emotional layers.

The artist expanded his creative range to many regions of the country.

In this space, viewers can admire paintings of roses depicted in many states: some blooming brightly, some petals falling, some buds shyly, some withered. The colors can be soft, fresh or mixed with a bit of sadness. Sometimes the flowers stand alone against an abstract background, like a highlight of the human mood.

Placing roses next to the hometown painting shows the artist's style and feelings through the connection between the outside and the inside, between the public and the private. Roses are an inner language, a trace of private memories in the space of origin. When the viewer moves from the hometown space to the flower space, they can feel the transition, from focusing outward on the common life, back inward with personal emotions.

Peaceful beauty in the paintings of artist Quynh Thom.

Even before the official opening of the exhibition "Country Colors 7", many collectors came to the artist's private creative space to admire and purchase the works after the exhibition ended.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Vy (Vietnamese living in France) shared: "Standing in front of the painting "Village in the early morning mist", I feel like I'm re-encountering the breath of the early mornings in my mother's hometown, the beloved land I left at the age of 17. Each brushstroke of artist Quynh Thom has truly touched the memories of someone far away from home like me. Those memories are both warm and grateful. I believe that when I bring these paintings back to Paris, many French friends will ask me: Why is your hometown so peaceful? And I always smile, because in Quynh Thom's paintings, that peace is the silent vitality of the Vietnamese people."

Roses create a new feature in "Country Colors 7".

Commenting on the series of rose paintings in "Country Colors 7", collectors say that the flowers represent the mood, memories, and breathing of an artist who has gone through many ages but still retains his belief in beauty.

In Quynh Thom, roses do not stop at being a symbol of pure romantic love, but seem to become a symbol of strong will and kindness. The roses blooming in the morning dew, the roses withering slightly in the afternoon sun, and the petals just falling... and all have their own light, a gentle light that seems to come from within, like the heart of an experienced person still has its warmth.

The artist depicts many shades of beauty in the rose.

In some paintings, the artist uses a cold gray background, with only one bright rose in the middle of the canvas, making viewers think of memories that still burn brightly even though life has passed away. In others, the roses are in a brown ceramic vase, rustic like the countryside, but if you look closely, you can see the soft light passing through each petal, just like someone's hand gently caressing and lovingly caressing it.

"I used to think that perhaps roses were the most difficult flower to draw, because they were too familiar, too easy to imitate or simply conventional. But in Quynh Thom's works, roses became very unique, very Vietnamese, as if they had the scent of the countryside sunshine, the mist of the North. Behind each painting, I felt a love for flowers, a love for life that was profound, humane, and knew how to appreciate each fragile pink color," collector Pham Thanh Nam shared.

Pink and white are one of the artist's favorite flower colors.

Painter Quynh Thom confided: "I was born in a countryside with many memorable colors: the yellow of ripe rice, the brown of the soil, the blue of the sky, and the pink of the flower beds in front of the house. Perhaps, those colors have seeped into my blood and flesh, so that every time I hold a brush, I feel like I'm returning to my inner world. Paintings about my hometown are a space that helps me talk with my memories, and roses are a conversation with time. Each petal, each color carries a breath of life, with gentleness and scratches."

One of the works ordered by a collector before the exhibition.

"When I paint, I hope to keep a bit of silence in the midst of a life that is sometimes too chaotic and bustling. Choosing to paint 56 roses, which are also the 56 seasons I have gone through, is a path for me to look back at myself. At each age, the roses in me have a different shade and I believe that a flower is only truly beautiful when it carries the breath of the painter. As for the paintings of my hometown, some people ask me why I don't paint urban areas, why do I always paint the countryside? I feel my heart sink, filled with tears, because my hometown is never old...", the artist said emotionally.

In "Sac Que 6", many people stopped for a long time in front of each painting because of sympathy and nostalgia. It is expected that "Sac Que 7" will have similar things that will continue, making viewers slow down, stop for a long time, and immerse themselves in each point of light, each silence between colors and frames.

Roses have a proud and lasting beauty.

Before being determined with rural paintings, the artist used to work as a graphic designer, having been exposed to a lot of modern life. However, it seems that in his mind, painting is always the way for him to return to his origin. Every time he holds the exhibition "Country Colors", he seems to be opening the door to his inner space to preserve memories, love for his motherland and keep his soul anchored in the flow of time.

This exhibition can be seen as the artist's maturity, from traditional countryside paintings to more free ones, from personal memories spreading to the community, and from painting landscapes to painting emotions. Roses are a sign that he is taking on a new challenge in the language of painting, both entering the general and opening up the individual.

"Country Colors 7" will introduce 56 rose paintings.

Quynh Thom's art world is not noisy, trendy, nor too flashy, but chooses a simple, sincere, and profound way, letting viewers search and imagine for themselves. It is a steadfast path, associated with consciousness, with love for the homeland and belief in the aesthetic value of simplicity.

Quynh Thom's paintings carry the message of "awakening" in viewers memories that have been silently sleeping. Therefore, the exhibition is not exclusively for the art world but is open to ordinary people, anyone who has ever missed the fields, gardens, the sound of roosters crowing every morning, the cool scent of rice in the cold monsoon wind...

With the inherent expression and emotional maturity of previous "Country Colors", "Country Colors 7" is expected to leave a deep impression on the public. The rose paintings can become a new highlight for the public to remember how flowers bloom against the backdrop of a peaceful, quiet homeland.
