Assistant to Mr. Kim Sang-sik suddenly became the 'boss' of a football team

TPO - Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh, assistant coach of Kim Sang-sik in the Vietnam national team, was appointed as Chairman of Quy Nhon United Club.

Last August, because coach Kim Sang-sik was busy leading the Vietnam U23 team to participate in the 2026 AFC U23 Championship Qualifiers, Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh was given the right to lead the Vietnam team.

This is a training session to prepare for the 2 matches of the Vietnam team with Nepal in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, taking place next October. The Vietnam team had 2 practice matches with the Blue Steel Nam Dinh and the Hanoi Police.

According to Tien Phong, Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh has recently been appointed as Chairman of Quy Nhon United Club, the team that was relegated from LPBank V.League last season. This is an important step to help the team rebuild and consolidate.

Coach Dinh Hong Vinh, from Binh Dinh, used to be associated with Mr. Duc's HAGL team and participated in coaching youth teams such as U16 and U19. He was also part of the coaching staff of the Vietnam team that won the ASEAN Cup 2024.

Quy Nhon United used to be a team that was heavily invested in many seasons ago, and at times played so well that they became a phenomenon in the V.League. They were led by coach Nguyen Duc Thang, with a squad of players including prominent faces such as Dinh Trong, Mac Hong Quan and many experienced players.

In the past two years, Quy Nhon United has faced difficulties and last season lost in the V.League relegation race with SHB Da Nang and Quang Nam .
