On the evening of November 25, the closing ceremony and awards ceremony of the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival took place in Da Lat city.
In the feature film category, 16 works were selected to compete, including: Southern Forest Land, Glorious Ashes; You and Trinh; Mrs. Nu's House; 578; 9; The Girl from the Past; The Chong Picking Con; Peach, Pho and Piano; The Last Wife; Poet Hong Ha, Fanti; Jasmine; Anonymous; Oh Mother, Here Comes the Butterfly; Muoi: The Curse Returns.
In the end, Glorious Ashes won 5 important awards including: Golden Lotus for Feature Film; Best Supporting Actor for Feature Film (Le Cong Hoang); Best Director for Feature Film (Bui Thac Chuyen); Best Cinematography for Feature Film (Nguyen K'Linh) and Best Music for Feature Film (Ton That An).

Previously, the film won the highest award at the Three Continents Film Festival in France, the 2023 Golden Kite Award. Director Bui Thac Chuyen was the only person to speak on stage about 1 minute after receiving the Golden Lotus Award.
He shared: "I still find it hard to believe because I made this film after 10 years of not making a film. It's really difficult to make a film.
After 2 years of Covid-19, the Vietnamese film production industry is facing even more difficulties. Therefore, in order for the Vietnamese film production industry to develop strongly, we hope to receive understanding and support from everyone."

The 23rd Film Festival had 3 films winning the Silver Lotus Award: Em va Trinh; Me Oi, Buom Day va Dao, Pho and Piano .
Con Nhót Mơ Chong won the Jury Award for Feature Film. Meanwhile, Siêu Lúa Giêu Lậy won the Audience Award for Most Favorite Film.

Em va Trinh was awarded the Majestic Highlands Award for the work with beautiful scenes set in Lam Dong .
In the acting categories, Thai Hoa continued to win the Best Actor award for his role in Con Nhót Môt Chong, but he was absent, so actor Tien Luat accepted the award on his behalf. Previously, he also won this award at the Golden Kite Awards in September.
Actresses Dinh Y Nhung and Mai Cat Vy in Me oi, Buom day both received the Best Actress award. In the Best Supporting Actress category, Bui Lan Huong, with her portrayal of the famous singer Khanh Ly in Em va Trinh, beat out two strong competitors, Hanh Thuy (Tro tan glorious) and Kim Oanh (Nguoi vo cuoi cuoi) to win the award.
However, Bui Lan Huong did not attend the closing ceremony so her boyfriend, director Nguyen Quang Dung, accepted on her behalf.

Speaking at the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival, Mr. Vi Kien Thanh, Director of the Department of Cinema, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival, said that this year's Film Festival brought creative artistic inspiration, excitement and impression to film artists and audiences because this is a festival with the largest number of participating films ever.
According to Mr. Thanh, from 177 films participating in the Film Festival, the Selection Council has selected 146 films, including 91 competition films and 56 films in the panorama program.
Feature films are the genre that always receives public attention at film festivals.

"This year's film festival has many good feature films, with improved artistic quality, many innovations in cinematic language, and many unique explorations in how to tell a story.
The film crew from producer, screenwriter, director, actors, cameraman, music , sound and editing are increasingly professional.
16 feature films entered the competition with diverse and rich content and forms of expression. Many films have good ideological content and attractive artistic expression...", said the Director of the Department of Cinema.
Regarding the documentary genre, Mr. Thanh said that the 31 competing films have quite diverse topics, reflecting all aspects of social life, serving political tasks.
"The quality of the films is quite consistent and reveals a new filmmaking style approaching the language of world documentary cinema, showing new prospects for international integration in the field of documentary films, and the emergence of a new creative trend in documentary films. Scientific Films have a number of good, outstanding films," the Director of the Department of Cinema assessed.
