Responding to Dan Tri reporter, Associate Professor Dr. Mai Xuan Truong, Principal of Thai Nguyen University of Education, said that although the incident did not originate from personal intention, the school's leaders recognized responsibility and seriously learned from the experience.

The school also worked with the cafeteria, requesting the suspension of the employee responsible for the mistake and pledging not to repeat the offense.

“We look forward to receiving the sharing and sympathy of all levels, sectors, parents and the whole society.

We pledge to promptly fix the problem, review the process, and strengthen inspection and supervision to prevent similar situations from happening in the future," said the school leader.

Regarding the incident of students being made difficult when receiving charity meals, the school leader added that around noon on October 8, a resident walked to the school dormitory, met with the dormitory management staff, and expressed his wish to support some lunches for students.

Because he could not get the direction from his superiors, this employee did not dare to make a decision on his own, so he discussed it with the canteen service provider. After that, the canteen staff arbitrarily decided not to accept these subsidized meals.

“The unfortunate incident was decided by the cafeteria staff themselves, without any direction or intervention from the school. At the same time, the cafeteria staff also arbitrarily decided to only accept cash payments, which was not the school’s policy,” said the principal of Thai Nguyen University of Education.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Mai Xuan Truong, Thai Nguyen University of Education is located in a deeply flooded area of the province, one of the places most heavily affected by the recent storm and flood.

Faced with complicated weather conditions, the school has proactively deployed emergency measures to ensure absolute safety for staff, lecturers and students staying in the dormitory.

On the afternoon of October 8, the school coordinated with support units and benefactors to provide free meals for all students in dormitories affected by storms, floods and inundation.

“Due to the huge amount of work to respond to and overcome the consequences of the storm and flood, many houses of leaders were deeply flooded and lost phone signal on the morning of October 8, so the process of responding to the flood was negligent and untimely, causing unexpected impacts.

Especially during storms and floods, the school acknowledged valuable support from many groups and individuals, helping students overcome difficult times.

The school is focusing on overcoming the consequences of the storm and flood, quickly stabilizing the living and studying of students in the dormitory, and bringing all activities back to normal," the school leader affirmed.

Previously, Dan Tri reported that some students "accused" the canteen service of Thai Nguyen University of Education of making it difficult to receive charity meals during the rainy and flooded days.

“The University of Education canteen made it difficult for the charity group, not allowing them to distribute relief food, and allowing the canteen to sell rice for 30,000 VND/meal,” according to the accusation on social media.

In particular, students also denounced that the school cafeteria staff did not allow money transfers and only accepted cash, causing difficulties. Many students did not have cash and had to go hungry.

After the flood receded, some students returned home and were blamed for not staying to clean the dormitory.
