Recently, Dajiang International School held a graduation ceremony for its students. At the ceremony, many students who passed the entrance exams to top prestigious universities in China received awards right on stage.

Images of stacks of cash stacked on top of each other and placed on stage quickly caused a stir on social networks in the country of a billion people, forcing authorities in Guigang city to intervene.

Guigang city authorities have determined that some private schools are showing signs of overdoing their media exposure, so they have taken action and asked the schools to stop their controversial actions.

Among the students who came to receive awards at Dajiang International School, the most outstanding was a female student named Luo, who was admitted to Tsinghua University. Luo was awarded 1 million yuan in cash (nearly 3.7 billion VND).

The image of Luo receiving the bonus surprised many people, the female student immediately became a millionaire with 1 million yuan awarded by the school.

In addition to Luo, several other students were also awarded with different amounts of bonuses, depending on the rankings of the universities they entered.

Dajiang International School has been awarding students who have been admitted to prestigious universities for several years now. In 2022, students who have been admitted to Tsinghua University or Peking University will receive a 500,000 yuan bonus. Over time, the school has continued to adjust the bonus levels in an upward direction.

This move has received much criticism from the Chinese public and is considered too pragmatic, unintentionally instilling in students the idea that studying well is to earn a lot of money quickly.

In addition, giving large sums of money to students who pass the exams with high scores also shows the unfair behavior of the school. Teachers and schools have the responsibility to care about the long-term development of each student, supporting and guiding them to have the best plans for the future, instead of just focusing on a few outstanding individuals.
