Many pedagogical schools have informed about the 2025 enrollment plan, in which some schools plan to eliminate the high school transcript admission method and increase combined admission to improve input quality.
More schools no longer consider high school transcripts for admission
In addition to the four admission methods as last year, Hanoi Capital University plans to add one more admission method in 2025 based on the capacity assessment results of Hanoi National University of Education.
One of the changes in the school's admission direction is the plan to eliminate the method of considering high school transcripts for teacher training majors and change the admission method based on international language proficiency certificates to a method of considering foreign language certificates and a number of other criteria such as high school graduation exam results and high school learning results.
Regarding training, in an interview with the reporter of Dai Doan Ket Newspaper, Associate Professor Dr. Do Hong Cuong, Principal of Hanoi Capital University, said that the school plans to open two more pedagogical training majors: Information Technology Pedagogy and English Pedagogy, bringing the total number of training majors of the school in 2025 to 30 majors.
With the goal of developing the school in the direction of focusing on training quality, in 2025, Hanoi Capital University will not increase enrollment targets.
Associate Professor Dr. Do Hong Cuong said: “In recent enrollment seasons, the school has maintained an enrollment target of 2,000 students each year. The school does not pursue quantity but prioritizes training quality. It is expected that the school's enrollment target for 2025 will not change."
Thai Nguyen University of Education has just announced the methods of regular university admission in 2025. In particular, the school representative noted that the school does not conduct early admission based on the method of considering academic records like previous years and does not organize aptitude tests for the Early Childhood Education major.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education was the first pedagogical school to announce that it would no longer consider high school transcripts for admission from 2025. The school said that the removal of high school transcripts for admission was to meet the needs of students studying under the new program with the general view of ensuring fairness, transparency, creating favorable conditions for candidates and ensuring improved input quality, meeting the requirements of the modern labor market.
Link to organize private exams
While in 2025, many schools plan to "tighten" the method of considering transcripts, many schools tend to increase admission quotas from separate exams.
Hanoi National University of Education 2 plans to organize an aptitude test for admission from 2025. Previously, Hanoi National University of Education and Ho Chi Minh City National University of Education organized their own exams along with other admission methods.
Of which, the 2024 competency assessment exam organized by Hanoi National University of Education has 9 universities recognizing and using the results for university admission. Information from Hanoi National University of Education said that in 2025, 22 universities will use the school's competency assessment exam scores for admission, an increase of 13 schools compared to last year.
Associate Professor Dr. Nghiem Dinh Vy - former Principal of Hanoi National University of Education, said that there should not be too many separate entrance exams in the near future. Instead of each school organizing a separate exam, Associate Professor Dr. Nghiem Dinh Vy said: "Schools should cooperate with each other, organize a separate exam by cluster, by each industry, creating consistency in admission. Thus, the separate exam will have a rich question bank, creating fairness and quality."
Supporting the use of competency assessment test results by pedagogical schools for admission, Principal of Hanoi Capital University Do Hong Cuong said that the expansion of pedagogical schools' own exams demonstrates university autonomy.
However, Mr. Cuong is also concerned that if every school organizes its own exams, university admissions will return to the way they were before. That means every school will organize its own exams, which will not ensure quality.
Associate Professor Dr. Do Hong Cuong said: "Schools in the same training field should cooperate with each other to organize a separate exam to avoid wasting social resources."
Given the attraction of the pedagogical industry in the past few admission seasons, Associate Professor Dr. Do Hong Cuong noted that candidates need to consider and calculate carefully when choosing a school and major. Because in reality, through the admission process, there were candidates who scored 26.25 points but still failed 16 wishes to enter the pedagogical school and major.
With high scores and few quotas, Associate Professor Dr. Do Hong Cuong believes that this is a “brain-weighing” problem for families. Parents and teachers at high schools need to advise and guide students so that they can make the best choice.
