During the years of fighting against the American imperialists to save the country, Quang Tri was the fiercest front line, every inch of land, bridge, and river was soaked with the blood of many children of the Fatherland. In particular, Quang Tri Citadel - the fiery summer of 1972 has been recorded in the history of the nation as an immortal symbol of Vietnamese revolutionary heroism.

During those 81 days and nights, tens of thousands of soldiers, still very young, fought bravely until their last breath. They fell so that the national flag could fly on top of the Citadel, so that the Fatherland could last forever and we could have a peaceful life today... The Party Committee, the government and the people of Quang Tri always consider the work of "Repaying gratitude" as a sacred responsibility and a command from the heart. Today's generation, those who are living in peace , vow to live up to the noble sacrifices of the heroic martyrs; determined to maintain the independence and sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland; to follow the path that the previous generation chose - the path of ideals, beliefs and aspirations to build a strong, civilized and happy Vietnam.

In a sacred and respectful atmosphere, delegates and people offered flowers, incense, and observed a moment of silence to remember and pay tribute to the 34 outstanding children who heroically fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and the happiness of the people.
