From 8:00 p.m. tonight (August 24), water discharge from Song Quang and Ban Ang hydroelectric reservoirs will be operated.

On the afternoon of August 24, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense announced the operation of water discharge from the Song Quang and Ban Ang hydropower reservoirs.

At 5:00 p.m. on August 24, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense received Notice No. 2408 from Song Quang Hydropower Joint Stock Company, regarding the operation of the Song Quang Hydropower Reservoir discharge project.

To ensure the safe operation and regulation of the Song Quang hydropower reservoir, in accordance with the procedures approved by the Provincial People's Committee and in accordance with the hydrological situation at the project, Song Quang Hydropower Joint Stock Company plans to operate and regulate the Song Quang hydropower reservoir as follows: Discharge additional flow starting from 8:00 p.m. on August 24; with a total discharge flow from 25 m ³ /s to 500 m ³ /s (including flow through the gate, flow through the spillway and power generation flow through the generators) and may change depending on the amount of water coming to the reservoir. The reservoir operation and regulation will last until the flood ends.

The Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense informs the People's Committee of Muong Quang commune; Heads of provincial departments, branches and sectors to inform the authorities at all levels, agencies, units, investors who are constructing along the river, on the river, owners of water transport vehicles and all people in the area downstream of Song Quang Hydropower Plant to know and deploy necessary work, ensuring the safety of life and property of the State and the People.

*Next, from 8:50 p.m. on August 24, Ban Ang Hydropower Reservoir (Tuong Duong Commune) will operate to discharge water, with a total expected discharge flow of about 200m ³ /s to 1,000m ³ /s (including discharge through spillway gates and generator sets), and may change depending on the flow to the reservoir.
