Tourists come to visit and worship at Bac Le Community Temple
Although there are no exact documents about the time of construction, but based on 2 ancient steles in the temple, the Bac Le Community Temple was most extensively restored around the end of the 19th century, located on a hill surrounded by ancient trees, a sacred space, in harmony with nature. Over the years, the temple continued to be restored and embellished many times, but still retains the beauty of the architecture and valuable antiques such as: a system of large and small statues made from jackfruit wood, horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences, and elephant statues with delicate carvings.
The temple worships the Three Holy Mothers, the Cong Dong Chu Thanh and Chau Be Bac Le. This is a sacred temple associated with the beliefs of the Three Palaces - Four Palaces of the Vietnamese people, holding a very important position and role in the cultural and spiritual life of the ethnic communities inside and outside the province. The temple was granted a provincial relic certificate in 1992. Every year, in the middle of the 9th lunar month, the Bac Le festival takes place, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from all over the country.
“Bac Le Community Temple is the first tourism product of the province to be ranked as OCOP, thereby contributing to enhancing the value of heritage, opening a new direction for the development of cultural tourism.” |
In order to widely promote the relic site as well as improve service quality, the Management Board of Bac Le Community Temple relic has built a profile to turn the relic into an OCOP product. Mr. Truong Xuan Huu, Head of the Management Board of Bac Le Community Temple relic said: Participating in the OCOP program, we determined to build a unique tourism product, ensuring criteria on quality, service, environment... Accordingly, we have invested in upgrading infrastructure (such as pouring concrete, re-treating the surface of the 7,000 m2 parking lot; the new electrical system ensures light and safety for visitors...), cleaning the landscape and environment, building a product story, introducing the relic, ensuring security and order...
Along with that, the Bac Le Community Temple relic has a design that meets the OCOP assessment criteria, from uniqueness, exploitation capacity, support services to sustainability in development. In particular, integrating traditional values with tourism experiences, visiting festivals, and learning about Mother Goddess worship helps the product become more attractive to tourists...
As one of the tourists visiting Bac Le Community Temple, Mr. Nguyen Van Luat, Yen Phong Commune, Bac Ninh Province said: I have been to many places, but Bac Le Community Temple left a special impression on me. The sacred space, the festival has a strong identity. This year is the third consecutive year I have come to the temple, not only to pray for luck, fortune, and a favorable business, but also to visit and learn about the beliefs and cultural identity of this place.
In September 2025, at the conference to evaluate and classify OCOP products of the province in 2025, the Bac Le Community Temple relic product was highly appreciated and scored and classified as 4-star OCOP by the council. Mr. Luu Ba Mac, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: Bac Le Community Temple is the first tourism product of the province to be classified as OCOP, thereby contributing to enhancing the value of heritage, opening up a new direction for the development of cultural tourism. In the coming time, the department will continue to focus on expanding OCOP-standard tourist destinations. In particular, focusing on selecting potential locations to support the community and management boards to complete infrastructure, improve service quality; promote and promote tourism products meeting OCOP standards associated with tourism to become a typical brand of the province; closely coordinate with sectors and localities to expand the model, forming an ecosystem of typical tourism products of the province.
The fact that the Bac Le Community Temple relic has become the first OCOP tourism product in the province has a particularly important meaning, affirming the right direction in expanding the OCOP program to the tourism sector, instead of just stopping at agricultural products, food... Thereby, creating a premise to continue building typical tourism products, contributing to diversifying the tourism industry of the province in general. At the same time, this is also an essential indicator to complete criterion No. 13 on production organization and rural economic development, towards building advanced new rural areas in Tan Thanh commune.
