Coastal Highway - An Important Step in Transport Infrastructure Development

After a period of drastic and synchronous implementation, the coastal road section passing through Hung Yen province has completed all construction and installation items, ready for inauguration and operation from October 10, 2025. This is a key inter-regional transport infrastructure project, of special significance for socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the Northern coastal region.

The Red River Bridge project is part of the coastal road connecting Hung Yen province with Ninh Binh province.

The route through the province is more than 34.4km long, with a total adjusted investment of over VND4,800 billion; of which the central budget is VND1,100 billion, local capital and mobilized sources are over VND2,649 billion, BOT investor capital is over VND1,088 billion; the expected toll collection and capital recovery period is 24 years and 8 months.

Thanks to the close direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and the close coordination between departments, branches, localities and the contractor, by early October 2025, the project was completed, ensuring quality, aesthetics and technical safety. Engineer Nguyen Manh Hung, Phuong Anh Construction and Trade Investment Co., Ltd., Project Commander said: During the construction process, we had to deal with many challenges such as fluctuations in material prices, complex geological foundations, weather effects and site clearance progress. The team of engineers and workers worked 3 shifts continuously to keep up with the schedule. All items have been strictly inspected and are ready for use.

The coastal road significantly shortens the connection time from Hung Yen to major economic centers such as Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Cat Bi airport, Lach Huyen international port; and connects with the national coastal route from Quang Ninh to Ninh Binh. The completed infrastructure will create a great advantage in attracting investment in industrial parks and clusters, developing logistics, trade, services and coastal tourism, contributing to economic restructuring and improving people's lives. Like many people, Mr. Pham Tat Thang, owner of a restaurant in Hung Phu commune, said: "Previously, traffic was difficult, customers were few, so business was limited. Now that there is a modern road, we are confident that this area will be bustling, attracting tourists and investors, opening up great development opportunities for businesses. Since our ancestors' time, we have been hoping for a bridge connecting to Nam Dinh province (old). Now that the coastal road is completed, the future of our descendants will be open, and our homeland will certainly be more prosperous."

The coastal road creates a traffic axis connecting the transport of goods from the seaport area to Thai Binh Economic Zone.

Although the project has encountered many difficulties in terms of site clearance and material costs, thanks to the drastic participation of the entire political system, the items have now been completed and are ready for handover and use. The coastal road is a strategic transport project, contributing to expanding development space, increasing regional connectivity, creating a driving force to attract investment, promoting trade and developing the marine economy. At the same time, the route also plays an important role in ensuring national defense and security, increasing mobility, responding to natural disasters and adapting to climate change in coastal localities.

The event of the route officially opening to traffic from October 10, 2025 marks an important step forward in the development of the province's strategic transport infrastructure. A new development space is opening up for Hung Yen province and the Northern Delta provinces, promising to promote the province's socio-economic development in the coming time.
