In preparation for the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 and 2025 Asian U20 tournaments, Indonesia U19 will participate in the Tournoi Maurice Revello tournament in France from today, June 3 to June 16. According to the draw results, Indonesia U19 will be in Group B with Ukraine, Italy, Japan and Panama. In the opening match on June 4, coach Indra Sjafri and his team will face Ukraine U20.
In the U19 Indonesia squad for the tournament in France, there are 7 players who have just participated in the U17 World Cup 2023, namely Arkhan Kaka, Welber Jardim, Iqbal Gwijangge, Ikram Algiffari, Ji Da-bin, Sulthan Zaky, Figo Dennis. Besides, there are a series of mixed-race players such as Marselinus Ama Ola, Darel Valentino, Tirec Adriano and Camara Ousmane. In addition, some players of Dutch origin are also present to practice with U19 Indonesia, namely Jens Raven (Dordrecht U21), Mauresmo Hinoke (Dordrecht U21), Dion Markx (NEC U21), Sam Yvel (NAC Breda U21) and Tim Geypens (FC Twente U21).
This is the third time Indonesia has participated in the Toulon Cup. In 2017, Indonesia was drawn in Group C with the Czech Republic, Scotland and Brazil. As a result, the archipelago nation lost 0-1 to Brazil, lost 0-2 to the Czech Republic before Scotland were eliminated 1-2. The last time Indonesia participated in the tournament was in 2022. At that time, U19 Indonesia lost 0-1 to Venezuela, 0-2 to Mexico and then defeated Ghana 1-0.
After finishing the Toulon Cup, U19 Indonesia will return home to prepare for the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 tournament in July.
