Huawei takes third place in the foldable phone market

In the IDC report, the third quarter of 2024 recorded Huawei's return to third place in the foldable phone market. Accordingly, although not launching many new foldable phone models in the international market, with 13.2% market share in the domestic market, Huawei has achieved significant results.

Topping the list is Samsung with 51% market share thanks to the success of the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 duo - this helped the company regain market share lost to Huawei and Honor earlier this year.

Thanks to the Motorola brand when launching the clamshell folding phone line, Lenovo rose to second place with 15.1% market share.

The remaining two positions in the top 5 belong to Honor with 7.6% market share and Xiaomi with 6.3% market share.

According to IDC's assessment, the global foldable phone market is recording strong growth with a growth rate that can reach 22% in 2024. This increase is 3 times the growth rate of the regular smartphone market, promising a vibrant fourth quarter with new products coming from Huawei.

Experts believe that Huawei can maintain its position in the first quarter of 2025 if it can maintain its momentum and continuously innovate. Huawei needs to ensure that its devices meet the needs of users as well as create fear of differentiation from other competitors.
