The Asian E- Sports Games is a continental-scale e-sports event, initiated and sponsored by AESF. The first edition of AEG 2024 took place in Bangkok (November 25–December 2, 2024), gathering 179 athletes from 29 countries and territories, becoming the largest tournament in the region. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Do Viet Hung, Chairman of VIRESA, emphasized: Vietnam is one of the most dynamic e-sports markets in the region, with more than 28 million participants in more than 10 popular sports. He said that AEG 2026 is not only an international playground for athletes but also an opportunity for international friends to experience Vietnamese culture and identity.
“Together with our partners in Southeast Asia, VIRESA is committed to providing the best experience for athletes, fans and federations, demonstrating the spirit of honoring talent, creativity and connection of the Asian esports community. We hope that AEG 2026 will not only be a tournament, but also a symbol of solidarity, innovation and cooperation in the region,” he added. He shared more about Vietnam’s vision and determination when participating in the Games.
Hosting AEG 2026 not only affirms Vietnam's new central position in Southeast Asian e-sports, but also demonstrates its commitment to developing this field in a professional, creative and sustainable direction - in line with the National Digital Transformation Strategy and the Strategy for Developing Vietnam's Cultural Industry to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
