Vietnam's dairy industry - "an inspiring story"
The theme of this year's Global Dairy Conference is "Reimagining Dairy". In the context of the dairy industry facing many global challenges and difficulties, in order to develop sustainably, the global dairy industry needs to reposition itself from its core values and internal motivations, towards the future. With this theme, Vinamilk's presentation not only helped more than 200 representatives from leading organizations and units in the world dairy industry participating in this year's conference to have a new vision of the Vietnamese dairy industry, but also inspired by special stories in nearly half a century of development of the industry.
At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tri, Marketing Executive Director of Vinamilk, shared the journey of more than 47 years of Vinamilk and the dairy industry accompanying the development of the country. More specifically, when Vietnam has reached the milestone of 100 million people and opened up many great potentials. With a starting point of almost zero - no modern factories, no large-scale dairy farms and no ability to produce milk on an industrial scale, after only nearly half a century, the Vietnamese dairy industry has a completely new look with new marks.

After listening to Vinamilk's presentation, Chairman of the 16th Global Dairy Conference, Mr. Richard Hall, said: "I was very inspired by the successful journey of Vinamilk and the Vietnamese dairy industry in general, as well as the story of Ms. Mai Kieu Lien that Vinamilk shared at the beginning of this year's presentation. From the beginning in a difficult context, Vinamilk has now grown to become a business with a significant position in the world. Not only has it successfully developed good quality products, but it has also solved social problems, focusing on the health and happiness of the people. And now they are going out into the world."

Notably, within the framework of this year's Conference, in its first participation in The World Dairy Innovation Awards 2023, Vinamilk was honored in the category "Dairy Alternatives" with the product Super Nut 9-nut milk. After passing the preliminary round and being nominated with 7 other products from many countries around the world, Vinamilk Super Nut convincingly won the "champion" position for this category.

"Inclusive development" for more sustainability
In the presentation, the story of Vinamilk's powdered milk product with the familiar brand name Dielac was shared as a typical example of this development journey. Born 34 years ago, Dielac is one of the first powdered milk products for children produced in Vietnam and also the first powdered milk product of Vietnam to be exported, becoming Vinamilk's main export product to many markets around the world.
Nearly 20 years ago, in order to produce products suitable for the physical condition of Vietnamese children, Vinamilk conducted nutritional surveys and large-scale clinical research in many localities across the country. Up to now, this product line has always been researched and developed by Vinamilk based on the philosophy of how to ensure that all children have access to the most suitable source of nutrition on their development journey.

In 2013, Vinamilk invested 100 million USD to build the Vietnam Super Powdered Milk Factory, with a capacity of 54,000 tons of products/year, creating a breakthrough growth for this product in both quality and quantity. Currently, Vinamilk continues to expand cooperation, invest in factories, factory projects, and farms with an estimated investment capital of up to 600 million USD to prepare for the future.
The dairy industry cannot be separated from the core value of "product quality", so Vinamilk has strategically cooperated with the world's leading nutrition expert groups such as Chr Hansen, DSM, Beneo, AKK... to develop milk products that meet international standards. In 2023, all Vinamilk's infant formula products will achieve the "Purity Award" - a strict award on purity and food safety standards, screened through more than 400 important indicators.
In addition to providing quality products to consumers, Vinamilk's development always goes hand in hand with the development of the whole community. All of these connections will create a cohesive and sustainable value for the dairy industry, even in challenging and difficult times like the recent period.
New vision of the dairy industry, accompanying the country
With a scale of more than 5 billion USD and much room for growth, the Vietnamese dairy industry not only meets the needs of a strongly developing country, but also receives international recognition for the industry's remarkable progress in a country that has absolutely no strength in dairy. It can be mentioned that Vinamilk, the leading enterprise, is in the list of the Top 40 largest dairy companies in the world in terms of revenue, the Top 10 most valuable dairy brands (ranked 6th) globally, has large farm and factory systems spread across the country and has exported products to nearly 60 countries and territories...
Mr. Piercristiano Brazzale, Chairman of IDF (standing in the middle) is interested in supporting the process of Vietnam joining IDF, which Vinamilk is actively promoting.
Vietnam is a country that is developing strongly, full of vitality and aspiration. Sketching the future of the dairy industry in that general picture, Vinamilk representative concluded his speech by sharing: "With its mission, the dairy industry is making strong changes, to join Vietnam in exploiting all its great potentials. A sustainable, advanced and constantly innovating dairy industry - will be the new vision, new image, new source of energy and new mission of the Vietnamese dairy industry in general and Vinamilk in particular on the next journey".
