Accordingly, the province currently has 637 preschools, primary schools, junior high schools, high schools, vocational education centers - continuing education centers and universities, colleges, intermediate schools (including 56 private schools). It is expected that after the arrangement, the number of school centers will be reduced by about 50%, equivalent to nearly 300 merged schools and centers.
Specifically, there are currently 185 preschools, expected to decrease by 88 schools; primary schools have 152 schools, a decrease of 48 schools; secondary schools and inter-primary - secondary schools currently have 183 schools, a decrease of 115 schools; high schools and inter-level schools with high schools have 36 schools, a decrease of 2 schools; vocational education and continuing education centers have 14 focal points, expected to have only 1 provincial center after completing the merger.
Ms. Thu emphasized that the merger process was carefully calculated, "not disrupting students' studies, not affecting people's rights". Students still study at the existing school, ensuring enough classrooms, facilities, and teaching equipment.
After the merger, the school management system will be streamlined and unified; operations, inspection and supervision will be more convenient, contributing to improving the efficiency of management and the quality of education in the whole province. At the same time, this will also help to regulate the teaching staff more reasonably, overcoming the situation of "local surplus - shortage" of teachers that is happening in many localities.
For vocational, intermediate, college and university education institutions, Quang Ninh has organized many meetings to listen to proposals and agree on arrangement plans in line with the province's high-quality human resource development plan.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh, the whole province has 520 educational institutions managed by the People's Committees at the commune level, the remaining 50 institutions are under the Department. The merger is carried out in line with the roadmap to streamline the two-level administrative apparatus, contributing to the modernization and professionalization of the local education system.
