Bac Khe 1 Hydroelectric Dam Breaks in Lang Son, No Human Losses Yet

(Chinhphu.vn) - Mr. Pham Vu Luan, Director of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) said that the Bac Khe 1 Hydropower Dam in Lang Son broke, but no human casualties have been recorded.

Storm No. 11 (Matmo) caused heavy rain in Lang Son. From 7:00 p.m. on October 5 to 7:00 p.m. on October 6, the rainfall in Mau Son was 205 mm; from 7:00 p.m. yesterday to 7:00 a.m. today in Quyet Thang was 195 mm.

The Bac Khe 1 Hydropower Dam in the old Trang Dinh district broke about 10 meters, causing water to rush into the Management Board area and downstream at noon on October 7.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep is directly at the scene to grasp and direct.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep said that according to the initial report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lang Son, the locality has proactively evacuated people in the affected area.
