The first Southeast Asian team to complete a series of matches during the FIFA Days (days when teams around the world play international matches, according to the FIFA calendar) in October was Indonesia.
However, the team from the archipelago country received an unhappy result. Indonesia was eliminated from the 4th round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Asia, after losing 0-1 to Iraq on September 11.

Indonesia is also the only Southeast Asian team to compete in the World Cup qualifiers. The remaining teams in the region compete in the Asian Cup qualifiers.
In Group A, the Philippines is leading the group and they are likely to maintain this position. The Philippines only have to play against the weak team Timor Leste on a neutral field in Capas (Philippines).
In Group D, Thailand is determined to climb to the top of the table. The team from the land of the golden pagoda has 6 points after 3 previous matches, equal to the number of points of Turkmenistan and Sri Lanka, only behind on secondary index.
If Thailand wins away to Taiwan tonight, coach Masatada Ishii's team can have more points or more sub-index than Turkmenistan and Sri Lanka. The two teams Turkmenistan and Sri Lanka meet in Arkadag (Turktmenistan).

In Group C, if Singapore wins against India in Margao (India), and Hong Kong (China) loses to Bangladesh, the Lion Island team will top the table. However, the two possibilities mentioned above are unlikely to happen at the same time.
In Group F, the competition between Vietnam and Malaysia continues to be intense. Malaysia will host Laos at Bukit Jalil Stadium (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), while Vietnam will meet Nepal at Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC).
The possibility of both Vietnam and Malaysia winning is very high, so the rankings between the two teams will not change temporarily. Malaysia will probably still lead the table, while Vietnam will continue to be second.
In some other matches, Southeast Asian teams appear, but they have little hope of advancing. In Group B, Brunei meets Yemen on neutral ground in Kuwait City. In Group E, Myanmar hosts strong team Syria at home in Yangon (Myanmar).
