VPBank is about to release more than 8.5 million ESOP shares

Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank ( VPBank - HoSE: VPB) has just announced that it will release 30% of the first batch of restricted shares issued under the 2023 employee stock option program (ESOP).

Specifically, more than 8.53 million shares that VPBank issued under ESOP in 2023 will be released by the bank starting from October 2 to October 7, 2024. Thus, these shares will be freely traded on the market from October 2.

Previously, in 2023, VPBank issued 30.2 million ESOP shares, equivalent to the total issuance value at par value of VND 10,000/share of nearly VND 302.2 billion.

The issuance rate is 0.448% equivalent to 0.45% of outstanding shares, for Vietnamese employees who meet the regulations on offering treasury shares under the employee stock option program. Non-executive directors are not allowed to buy ESOP shares.

The above shares will be restricted from transfer for 3 years and will be gradually released at a rate of 30% after 1 year; 35% after 2 years and the remaining after 3 years of issuance.

In 2021 and 2022, VPBank also distributed 15 million and 30 million ESOP shares to employees, respectively, but mainly to senior leaders.

In 2024, VPBank's General Meeting of Shareholders also approved a plan to increase charter capital by issuing ESOPs. The maximum number of shares expected to be issued is 30 million shares, at a price of VND 10,000/share.

In the market, at the end of the afternoon session on September 30, VPB stock price increased by 1.77% compared to the previous session to VND 20,100/share with a trading volume of more than 26.7 million units.

VPBank's ESOP release took place in the context of VPB's stock price being on a positive upward trend. Since the beginning of the week, VPB shares have increased by 5.79% from the reference price of VND19,000/share to VND20,100/share with an average trading volume of more than 45.6 million units/day.
