Determining 8 pairs of matches in the round of 16 of the National Cup 2025-2026

The round of 16 of the 2025-2026 National Cup in November promises to be very exciting as the matches are quite evenly matched.

On the evening of September 14, the qualifying round of the 2025-2026 National Cup concluded with the final 5 matches. The results were not surprising as the stronger teams all won.

One of the candidates for the 2025-2026 First Division championship, Bac Ninh, won 1-0 at Van Hien University Stadium.

2/3 V-League clubs have won against first division teams at home. Hong Linh Ha Tinh Club won against Quang Ninh 1-0,SHB Da Nang Club won against Thanh Nien TP.HCM 2-0.

The only first division team to win against a V-League team was Truong Tuoi Dong Nai, when they defeated Becamex TP.HCM 3-1 at Binh Phuoc Stadium. However, this was not a surprising result. Because Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club's force was much stronger in order to achieve the goal of promotion.

In the remaining match, The Cong - Viettel Club continued to maintain high performance when winning Hanoi 1-0.

Thus, the organizing committee has determined 16 teams to continue. Of these, 7 teams do not have to compete in the qualifying round: Ho Chi Minh City Police, Song Lam Nghe An, Nam Dinh, Hanoi Police, Khatoco Khanh Hoa (entered because Hoa Binh Club withdrew from the tournament), Hai Phong and PVF-CAND.

The Round of 16 of the 2025-2026 National Cup is scheduled to take place on November 22 and 23. The eight specific matches are as follows (to be played on the home field of the team ranked first):

Ho Chi Minh City Police - Ho Chi Minh City (7:15 p.m.); Truong Tuoi Dong Nai - Hong Linh Ha Tinh (6:00 p.m.); Song Lam Nghe An - SHB Da Nang (6:00 p.m.); Nam Dinh - Long An (6:00 p.m.); Hanoi Police - The Cong - Viettel (7:15 p.m.); Khatoco Khanh Hoa - Bac Ninh (5:00 p.m.); Hai Phong - Ninh Binh (6:00 p.m.); PVF CAND - Hoang Anh Gia Lai (6:00 p.m.).

There are 5 first division teams and 11 V-League teams in the round of 16. Of these, only 2 first division teams are likely to advance, Truong Tuoi Dong Nai and Bac Ninh, as they have quality squads.

The two most anticipated matches in this round will be between Cong An Ha Noi - The Cong Viettel and Hai Phong - Ninh Binh.
