Continuing to implement Plan No. 162/KH-UBND dated July 19, 2022 of the People's Committee of Lang Son province on implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in Lang Son province for the period 2021 - 2025, in 2025, the Department of Health has developed and deployed Plan No. 49/KH-SYT, dated March 31, 2025 to implement the content of "Improving nutrition", in which it guides affiliated units to fully implement professional activities to successfully complete the targets in the assigned field.

In the first 9 months of 2025, propaganda work on preventing malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies for pregnant and lactating mothers was carried out continuously and effectively. At commune and ward health stations, grassroots health staff regularly organized direct communication such as: group discussions at health check-ups, pregnancy check-ups, vaccinations, integrated into regular nutrition improvement activities; guidance on food demonstration for children for pregnant women and mothers/caregivers of children under 2 years old. As a result, 90% of pregnant women and mothers with children under 2 years old received nutrition counseling in the first 1,000 days of life; 80.1% of children aged 6-23 months had a minimum acceptable diet (eaten properly and sufficiently); The rate of children under 2 years old being weighed and measured monthly and children under 5 years old being weighed and measured, and their nutritional status assessed once a year in June reached 99.7%. In addition, medical units in the province have implemented the first phase of high-dose vitamin A supplementation in 2025 for children aged 6 months to 59 months and children under 5 years old with malnutrition, diarrhea, measles, and acute respiratory infections, reaching 98.9% (47,322/47,848 children). Micronutrient supplementation for pregnant women reached 92.8% (745/803 pregnant women).

Ms. Le Thi Kieu Oanh, Deputy Head of the Department of Non-Communicable Disease Prevention and Nutrition, Provincial Center for Disease Control, said: To implement proper nutrition, each person needs to have a diverse, balanced and safe meal, increase green vegetables and fruits to supplement necessary vitamins, minerals and fiber. It is necessary to choose food with clear origin, ensuring food hygiene and safety from the selection, processing to preservation stages.

For children, the first 1,000 days of life is the golden period to optimize their development potential. Therefore, it is necessary to pay special attention to nutritional supplements for pregnant and lactating mothers. Breastfeed your baby exclusively for the first 6 months and continue until 2 years of age or longer. Give your baby appropriate and proper complementary foods when he or she turns 6 months old. At the same time, mothers need to combine nutrition with physical activity, at least 30 minutes a day (walking, running, exercising, playing sports...) to improve health, maintain a reasonable weight and prevent overweight and obesity.

Responding to the Nutrition and Development Week held from October 16-23 every year is an opportunity for each person and the whole society to act together for a healthy and developed community. In 2025, the Nutrition and Development Week has the theme "Producing and consuming diverse, nutritious, safe and sustainable foods for the health and comprehensive development of each person" calling on each person and each family to raise awareness and take action, building a healthy community from a solid nutritional foundation.
