Building dreams in the border area

Regarding schools for border communes, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested that the campaign to build 100 schools in the first phase in 100 land border communes be completed by August 30, 2026. These schools will be models for further implementation on a large scale, completing the goal of building 248 schools in the next 2 to 3 years.

Building schools for students in border areas is indeed a task that cannot be delayed. The Central Government launched the project, and the localities responded and took action very urgently. At the conference to review the implementation of the Project on arranging and stabilizing residents in areas at high risk of flash floods, landslides in mountainous communes of the province in the period of 2021-2025, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Xuan Liem said that Thanh Hoa has registered to build 2 inter-level boarding schools in border communes. He requested 16 border communes of the province to review essential facilities serving the accommodation, living and studying of students at schools in the area. The province will establish 3 working groups to coordinate with the communes to survey and determine the investment locations of schools to ensure the criteria according to the Central Government's instructions.

From the policy of the Politburo 2 weeks ago and the request of the Prime Minister 3 days before, Thanh Hoa province has put itself in a state of readiness. That shows the very urgent and responsible response to the policy, for the goal of eliminating poverty in the border areas. To eliminate poverty, people must first be literate as a basis for accessing science and technology. Building schools along with opening roads, bringing electricity, mechanization, and seedlings to difficult border areas is the fastest way to eliminate poverty effectively and sustainably.

Opening more schools in border areas is also a concretization of the policy of putting people, especially the future generations of the border areas, at the center of development. In many articles and television reports, images of illiterate children in border areas, when asked if they want to go to school, all answer yes. Then there are students who have the desire to go to school to later return to build their villages. But not all children have the strength to conquer the arduous and distant path to school, so despite their desire, they still have to give up their dreams.

The humane policy of building schools in border areas, and the vivid reality that is about to take place, is an affirmation of the determination to firmly consolidate the border areas, creating confidence for the people here to further tighten the national fence.
