Building a moral foundation
At the secondary level, learning from Uncle Ho is first and foremost associated with moral education , beautiful friendships and humane behavior. This is the foundation to help students form their personalities and foster a sense of responsibility towards the community.
According to the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training, the model "A beautiful story, a good book, a shining example every week" organized during flag-raising hours has become a highlight in many schools. Simple stories about students picking up lost items and returning them to their owners, or teachers wholeheartedly helping disadvantaged students... have planted seeds of kindness in students' souls. Along with that, the movement "Building beautiful friendships - Say no to school violence" helps students self-regulate their behavior, form a humane attitude and proactively build a safe and friendly learning environment.
In Hanoi, the movement “Good People - Good Deeds” and the model “Happy School” have been maintained persistently. The title “Honorary Student” is not only a spiritual reward, but also a motivation for each student to strive to practice following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh. Many examples of poor students overcoming difficulties, passionately studying, and willing to share with friends have been spread as an inspirational story, affirming the value of humanity and the spirit of overcoming difficulties.
These activities show that studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style at the secondary level is not only contained in books, but is also concretized in daily actions. That is from greetings, smiles, civilized behavior, to the awareness of participating in collective and community activities. It is this moral foundation that has nurtured the young generation with pure personalities, aspirations to contribute and a spirit of living for others.
At the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), the “Ho Chi Minh Thought Olympic” contest with multiple choice, presentation and dramatization sections attracted thousands of students to participate. The contest is not only a place to consolidate theoretical knowledge, but also encourages students to think critically and creatively, turning learning from Uncle Ho into a vivid, close and meaningful experience.
Spreading innovation
If at the high school level, learning from Uncle Ho focuses on personality training, then at the university level, models are increasingly associated with innovation, digital technology and social responsibility.
At Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (HCMUE), learning and following Uncle Ho's example are strongly digitized. "HCMUE Youth Online Space with Uncle Ho" introduces his life and career in 7 languages, creating a bridge with international friends. The school also develops a modern interactive system through the YouthHCMUE application, the SPTV YouTube channel, and school chatbot, helping students access political and ideological information quickly and conveniently.
Over the past 10 years, HCMUE has produced more than 500 infographics, 1,000 news and propaganda articles, and created modern music products such as rap and cover songs to convey messages about green lifestyles and civilized behavior. These innovative approaches help dry content become more familiar and attractive to students.
Not only that, HCMUE also organizes the "Citizen - Student Activity Week" in the form of E-learning with a participation rate of over 95% each year. Cultural and artistic activities such as the Student Singing Festival, Student Drama Festival, and the program to learn about ethnic music attract more than 12,000 participants. This is the way for the spirit of learning from Uncle Ho not only to be in the classroom, but also to be integrated into spiritual life, to nourish the soul, and to arouse national cultural pride.
In Ho Chi Minh City, many schools have built “school social networks” to spread good stories and good examples. Students are encouraged to record good experiences through clips, photos, and articles, thereby creating a positive space, encouraging kind living and sharing good things.
In particular, the work of setting an example and developing the Party is also closely linked to the movement of following Uncle Ho. At HCMUE, from 2016 to now, the school has honored 125 groups and 357 exemplary individuals; introduced 1,661 outstanding union members, of which 418 students were admitted to the Party. This is a clear demonstration of the effectiveness of combining Ho Chi Minh's ideological education with the work of building political organizations in schools.
According to Mr. Hoang Duc Minh, Director of the Department of Students (Ministry of Education and Training), after 10 years of implementing Directive 05, the whole sector has achieved many important results: the system of documents has been issued promptly, creating unity in direction; educational management, staff standardization, innovation in teaching and learning methods, application of IT, testing and evaluation have been promoted; awareness of self-cultivation, moral training, responsibility to set an example among cadres, teachers, students and pupils has clearly changed.
In the coming time, the Ministry will continue to promote propaganda and replicate typical models; perfect policies and documents on ethics and lifestyle education; improve staff capacity; strengthen coordination of forces; promote emulation movements, especially among the younger generation; at the same time, step up inspection, supervision, training and have a mechanism to support the team of political theory lecturers.
Learning from Uncle Ho is not only a political task of the education sector, but also a persistent journey to build a humane, modern and unique society. On that journey, each teacher and each student is a "spreading nucleus", contributing to affirming the everlasting value of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in today's life.
