Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi posted a video on Facebook on June 19 of his first visit to the front line. In the video, the commander said Ukrainian soldiers are doing their best to regain territory despite fierce resistance from the enemy, according to The Kyiv Independent . "The operation continues as planned," he affirmed.

General Zaluzhnyi said he had met soldiers “performing the most difficult tasks in the fiercest battles”. The clock in the video shows it was 17 June.
According to Mr. Zaluzhnyi, Russian forces have mined the southern frontline areas and have sent a significant number of reservists into the fight there to stop Ukraine's advance.

Appearing alongside Mr. Zaluzhnyi was General Oleksandr Tarnavsky, who commanded units that recaptured eight villages in the south in the past two weeks, according to CNN.

Mr Zaluzhnyi’s post came just a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested that the Ukrainian commander-in-chief might be abroad. Russian media had earlier reported that Mr Zaluzhnyi was injured, but Ukraine had denied the rumours.
Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar acknowledged that the country's generals are the biggest target for the enemy because eliminating them could change the course of the war. Ms. Malyar said the movements of the generals and President Volodymyr Zelensky are constantly monitored and they face a constant threat. Therefore, she said that she had proposed from the beginning of the war to increase security for important people.
