Thai Nguyen City was heavily flooded in this historic flood. Many people shared that although they were proactive, the flood came and rose so quickly that they could not react in time. The food stored in their homes was used up in the 2 days they were stuck due to the flood, so when the water receded, people went to food distribution points supported by the government to receive necessities, life jackets, flashlights, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Phu (Dong Tam hamlet) used a homemade buoy to swim out to receive food aid from the local government. Mr. Phu said that in the hamlet, many people did not evacuate because they tried to stay on the second floor when the first floor was flooded, but now that the food has run out, they have to swim out to receive supplies.
In addition to milk, instant noodles and drinking water, people are also supported with other necessities such as life jackets, rechargeable lamps, blankets, etc.

Floodwaters in Thai Nguyen City receded rapidly on the afternoon of September 10. A resident said that compared to the previous day, the water level had receded by about 80cm. Many people from the evacuation site returned and tried to get into their homes because they were anxious about their "assets" not knowing whether they were still there or damaged by the flood or had been swept away.

On the night of September 9, Thai Nguyen Provincial Police mobilized more than 4,000 officers and soldiers and more than 1,000 patrol, rescue and troop transport vehicles; 100 motorboats, rubber boats and more than 500 life jackets, life buoys and medicine to evacuate 2,364 households with about more than 10,000 people, including many elderly people and children, to safety.
