The official tournament will take place on October 5, expected to attract more than 13,000 domestic and international athletes.
This year's race is nearly 1.5 times larger than last season and will take participants through many typical historical and cultural sites of the capital. The race route passes through places such as: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Long Bien Bridge and the National Assembly House, contributing to the heritage element in the racing experience.

The organizers emphasized community connection and social responsibility when announcing that Techcombank donated 2 billion VND to funds and organizations in Hanoi, including the Hanoi Fund for the Poor (supporting the construction of solidarity houses), the Hanoi Children's Fund, the Hanoi Basketball Federation and the Hanoi Bicycle and Motor Sports Federation. This is stated as part of the sponsor's strategy to "create a good life" and fulfill corporate social responsibility.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee, affirmed the stature and significance of the event: "Following the success of previous seasons, the 4th season in 2025, the Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon continues to affirm Hanoi's position on the regional and world sports map. The tournament is not just a race, but also a journey for each athlete and citizen to feel the vibrant life, beautiful landscapes and thousand-year-old cultural values of the civilized capital. Hanoi will direct the city's departments, branches and localities to closely coordinate with the Organizing Committee to ensure the race takes place safely, professionally, thoughtfully and impressively for athletes, people of the capital and international friends."
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the 2025 Marathon Village at Vinhomes Riverside Long Bien opened, becoming a display space for sports, nutrition and lifestyle brands. Techcombank Expo was introduced as a place to showcase the bank’s technology solutions, while the season’s merchandise was inspired by Khue Van Cac – the symbol of knowledge of Thang Long citadel – combined with the design of “intersecting curves” to emphasize community connectivity.
A technological highlight of the season is the application of artificial intelligence (AI) on the race track. The organizers said that each athlete will receive a personalized video within 24-36 hours after the end of the event; previously, the campaign “Create an AI video - Become an ambassador of Techcombank Marathon 2025” attracted more than 50,000 videos created within two weeks. Representatives of SEV and Techcombank described this as an effort to combine sports experiences and digital technology to increase interaction with the community.
In terms of participants, this year's tournament brings together more than 13,000 athletes from 51 countries and territories. Many prominent faces of Vietnamese athletics such as national record holders Hoang Nguyen Thanh, Hoang Thi Oanh and SEA Games 32 Gold Medalist Nguyen Trung Cuong will compete. In the 21.1km distance, the notable point is that the oldest athlete participating in this event, 81 years old, is mentioned as an inspirational story of will and passion.
The “Sub 3” group – a group of nearly 80 athletes who have completed a marathon in under 3 hours – is expected to compete on a record scale. The numbers and participants were announced by the Organizing Committee to affirm the ambition to raise the level of the tournament in both quality and scale.
Mr. Jens Lottner, CEO of Techcombank, emphasized the role of the tournament in community and tourism activities: “Through the Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon and many other CSR programs, the Bank has made positive and meaningful contributions to the community in Hanoi. Entering its fourth season, the Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon is not only a race but also a journey connecting sports, culture and tourism, honoring heritage and promoting Hanoi as a vibrant, unique and globally admired destination.”

Mr. Rob Zamacona, General Director of Sunrise Events Vietnam, said the goal is to elevate the event, while affirming that the distances continue to be certified by AIMS and the route is optimized to go through “37 typical landmarks”. The organizers also said that the entire race and the award ceremony will be broadcast live on the VTV Go platform, livestreamed on the VTV Sports fanpage, VTV Sports YouTube and the official Techcombank Vietnam Fanpage.
The Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon is not only a sports competition but also an opportunity to promote culture, heritage and encourage a healthy lifestyle in the community.
