At the age of 22, when many of her peers had graduated from university and had stable jobs, Huynh Thi Nhu Quynh began a special journey - returning to 6th grade to pursue education. The story of the young girl's determination and strong desire to learn has touched the hearts of many people.

Born into poverty, Quynh lived with her grandmother since childhood, and followed her every day to sell lottery tickets at Thi Nghe market. While other children were still sleeping in warm blankets, Quynh rummaged through the garbage dumps to pick up edible vegetables and fruits. However, in the eyes of that slender girl, there was always a desire to go to school and learn to read and write like her peers.

The memories of nights going to remedial classes with old notebooks in hand, in dirty clothes, are still the fire that helps Quynh nurture her dream of going to school. In 2014, a tragedy struck when her grandmother passed away after a serious illness, leaving Quynh alone in the big city. At the age of 10, the girl had to put aside her dream of studying and threw herself into making a living with all kinds of jobs: working at a restaurant, serving drinks at a cafe... just to survive.

“I thought my whole life would be dark, I wouldn't be able to study, I wouldn't see tomorrow,” Quynh said, choking up.

Although life was full of hardships, the flame of knowledge in the young girl never went out. At the age of 18, when she had a stable job with enough income to cover her living expenses, Quynh still couldn't stop worrying about her unfinished dream of studying.

“I know that if I don’t study, I will only be able to do the same job for the rest of my life to make ends meet. If I study, especially at university, I will have the opportunity to choose the path I want,” Quynh confided.

That thought urged Quynh to ask for a confirmation letter to return to school. At the age of 22, the classroom gate once again opened for her - this time not just a dream, but a reality. Becoming a 6C student at the District 6 Continuing Education Center, Quynh was so happy that she cried. The feeling of holding a new book in her hand, sitting in the classroom while the school bell rang, made her feel like she was reliving her unfinished childhood years.

"My steps are not as strong as I thought. I'm afraid I won't be able to pay for tuition in the coming years. I know there will be many difficulties ahead, much harder than for my friends who have parents by their side," Quynh said.

In recent weeks, in a simple uniform, Quynh has been sitting quietly in class next to children who are ten years younger than her. The attention of teachers and the friendliness of friends have helped her quickly catch up with knowledge. During the day, Quynh goes to work from 9am to 3pm, and in the evening she rushes to class. That busy pace of life makes each passing day more meaningful to Quynh than ever.

When asked about the future, Quynh just smiled gently: " I just hope to go to university and live a normal life like everyone else ." A "normal" life is obvious to many people, but for the 22-year-old girl, it is a journey filled with tears, determination and aspiration.

It is that resilience that has touched the hearts of many people, reminding us that happiness sometimes does not lie in big things, but in the simplest dreams: going to school, studying and choosing one's own path.
