Attending the workshop were comrades: Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son, full-time member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education ; musician Do Hong Quan, President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui, President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, along with representatives of leaders of a number of central departments, ministries, branches, Ninh Binh province and many artists, theater theory and criticism researchers across the country.

The conference is an opportunity to look back at the achievements, contributions and limitations of theatrical art over the past half century.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui, President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, affirmed: "This is an opportunity to look back at the achievements, contributions and also the limitations and weaknesses of stage arts over the past half century, since the country's reunification and especially since the renovation process in 1986 until now."

The conference received nearly 30 presentations from researchers, authors, directors, artists... with many frank and new opinions. The presentations at the conference focused on comprehensively analyzing the picture of Vietnamese theater over the past 50 years and the contemporary relationship between theater and the public, from scripts, staging, acting to audiences; at the same time pointing out many achievements but also frankly stating limitations and shortcomings.

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son spoke at the conference.

Many opinions emphasize that the merger of traditional theaters under the administrative model is not really suitable, there is a risk of causing specific art forms such as tuong, cheo, cai luong, puppetry... to be assimilated, losing their identity, leading to a "mixed" state in creation and performance. Another problem pointed out is the crisis of contemporary themes: Today's theater still lacks works that touch on burning social issues, closely related to people's lives, causing the distance between the theater and the public to grow wider and wider.

Besides the workshop, the Vietnam Stage Artists Association held an incense offering ceremony and paid tribute to the founder of the profession at Pham Thi Tran temple in Ninh Binh , commemorating the founder of national stage art.

Art performance to celebrate Vietnam Theatre Day.

On the same day, at Pham Thi Tran Theater, a special art program took place to celebrate Vietnam Theater Day and honor outstanding artists of the period 1975-2025.
