Improve training quality to meet human resource needs of the new era
Thai Nguyen University of Technology is a prestigious public university in Northern Vietnam, specializing in training in technical fields. The school is famous for its role as a major technical research center in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region.
The school's predecessor was the Mountainous Industrial High School, established in 1965. In 1982, the school merged with Viet Bac Technical University to form Thai Nguyen University of Industry.
In 1994, the school officially became a member of Thai Nguyen University and was named University of Industrial Technology (Thai Nguyen University).
The school always puts training quality as top priority, demonstrated through continuously updating and developing curriculum.
Currently, the school is training 21 university majors with 41 programs, focusing on key technical and technological fields such as Mechanics, Electricity, Electronics, Information Technology and Mechatronics.
In particular, to stay ahead of the technology trend, the school has opened many new potential majors in the 2024-2025 school year, including: Electric vehicle engineering and intelligent control, Electronic, semiconductor and microchip technology, or Robotics Engineering.
These majors are built on the actual needs of society, contributing to providing high-quality human resources, serving the socio-economic development of the region and the whole country.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Nhu Khoa - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the School Council affirmed: "60 years is a long journey full of challenges but also full of glory. The achievements that the school has achieved are proof of the spirit of solidarity, creativity and dedication of generations of staff, lecturers and students".
In 2023-2024, the University of Industrial Technology completed the second cycle of educational institution quality assessment.
In the 2023-2028 period, the school meets the requirements of a higher education institution according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training; 100% of training programs are eligible for quality assessment and accreditation.
Of these, 4 programs are assessed according to AUN-QA standards and 11 programs are assessed according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training. This result affirms the quality of training, strengthening the trust of learners, society and employers in the context of university autonomy.

Leading in scientific research and community engagement
Not only strong in training, the University of Industrial Technology is also a prestigious scientific research center.
In the past 5 years, the school has implemented nearly 1,600 topics at all levels, with hundreds of international articles in the ISI/Scopus category. In 2024 alone, the school had 83 ISI/Scopus articles, 2 granted patents and 3 accepted patent applications.
Regarding international cooperation, in 2024, the school signed 11 MOUs on cooperation in training, student, lecturer and trainee exchange.
Many students and lecturers have had the opportunity to study and exchange in countries such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan... and the school also accepts international students to study.
In addition, the school always focuses on the role of connecting and serving the community. In 2024, the school coordinated with local authorities to donate smart TVs and teaching equipment to many primary and secondary schools in 6 provinces in the Northern midlands and mountainous areas.

Sharing about his experience studying in an environment that encourages scientific research, student Luong Ngoc Tung, majoring in Automation, K58, said: “I participated in a faculty-level research project on IoT applications in agricultural environmental control. Thanks to the support of teachers and the laboratory, my friends and I won second prize at the school level. It was a memorable experience, helping me to be more confident in my future research direction.”
With great contributions to the cause of education, scientific research and development of high-quality human resources, the school has been honored to receive many noble titles and awards from the Party and State such as: Title of Hero of Labor in the renovation period.
Second and Third Class Independence Medals, First, Second and Third Class Labor Medals and many other certificates of merit.
These achievements are vivid proof of the spirit of solidarity, creativity and tireless dedication of generations of staff, lecturers and students of the University of Industrial Technology.
