Classical Music: Cultural Bridge Between Vietnam and Germany

On the evening of October 2, at the Hoan Kiem Theater (Hanoi), a special concert was held by the Chamber Symphony Orchestra of Hessen State, Federal Republic of Germany. This program was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, the Hanoi People's Committee and the Hessen State Government (Federal Republic of Germany). Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong attended the program.

The program is an important activity within the framework of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Germany diplomatic relations.

Speaking at the program, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong emphasized: The program is not only a spiritual gift for Vietnamese audiences who love classical music, but also a vivid demonstration of the friendship and close and growing cooperation between Vietnam and Germany, especially in the fields of culture and people-to-people exchange.

Over the past half century, Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations have developed strongly, comprehensively and extensively in many fields: politics - diplomacy, economics, science - technology, education - training and especially culture - arts. The two countries are not only strategic partners but also sincere and close friends, sharing many common values ​​of peace , sustainable development and respect for cultural diversity.

According to Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong, in that development journey, cultural cooperation programs and art performances like today help the people of the two countries understand each other better, become closer and together preserve the unique cultural values ​​of humanity. The melodies of Louis Spohr, Beethoven or Mendelssohn are not only timeless masterpieces of German classical music, but also a spiritual bridge between nations - where emotions, beauty and harmony in the human soul can overcome all boundaries of language, culture and geography. Their music resonates anywhere, touching hearts, inspiring and evoking aspirations for peace, friendship and human solidarity.

"With profound and delicate symphonic melodies, I believe that the music night will leave a beautiful impression in the hearts of Vietnamese audiences, and at the same time continue to contribute to fostering the friendship and strategic cooperation between Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany to develop more sustainably, effectively and humanely" - Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong affirmed.

Sharing at the program, Dr. Kambiz Ghawami - Representative of Hessen State and Hessen State Symphony Orchestra emphasized that Hessen State and Vietnam have many things in common. Hessen is the oldest state among the 16 states of the Federal Republic of Germany, founded on September 19, 1945 by the US military government in Germany - that is, 80 years ago. Meanwhile, on September 2, Vietnam solemnly celebrated the 80th anniversary of its founding with many special events. In 2026, Hessen State will also celebrate its 80th anniversary and is looking forward to welcoming artists from Vietnam to perform on this important occasion.

Dr. Kambiz Ghawami also said that the Prime Minister of Hessen, Dr. Boris Rhein, was particularly pleased to be able to fulfill his promise to General Secretary To Lam, a classical music lover. Last November, the Prime Minister of Hessen, Dr. Boris Rhein, had cordial and productive working sessions in Hanoi with senior leaders of the Vietnamese Government.

As a contribution from the state of Hessen on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Germany and Vietnam, the Prime Minister of the state of Hessen, Dr. Boris Rhein, agreed to invite the Hessen Radio Symphony Orchestra, the oldest radio orchestra in Germany, to perform in Vietnam at this beautiful theater, with the participation of 10 artists as cultural ambassadors of the state of Hessen here.

Through that, Dr. Kambiz Ghawami respectfully thanked the Government and ministries of Vietnam, especially the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security and the Hanoi People's Committee for their support to make this concert a success.

At the program, delegates and the public enjoyed masterpieces by three great composers: Louis Spohr, Ludwig van Beethoven and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. These are all classic works, reflecting the diversity and depth of European music. Among them, Louis Spohr with Double Quartet No. 4 in G minor, Op. 136 - shows the rich dialogue between musical groups. Ludwig van Beethoven: Sextet for two horns and string quartet in E-flat major, Op. 81b - a unique combination of horns and strings, creating a sound that is both powerful and delicate. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy: Octet in E-flat major, Op. 20 - a masterpiece of a 16-year-old genius, converging youthful strength and masterful compositional techniques.

The concert brings together many famous artists from the state of Hessen, including: Marc Gruber, Michael Armbruster (Trumpet); Liisa Randalu, Barbara Petit, Stefanie Pfaffenzeller, Rachel Hunt, Grace Le, Sha Katsouris (Violine); Steffen Weise (Viola); Ulrich Horn (Violoncello)

The smooth combination of artists brought to the Vietnamese audience a European musical feast rich in emotion, both classical and new, while affirming the eternal value of classic works. The program has become a bridge connecting the two nations, opening up new cooperation opportunities, contributing to building a sustainable foundation for the future of Vietnam - Germany relations../.
