600 athletes participate in the "Cycling for Peace" Festival in Quang Tri

On the morning of June 29, at the Northern Flag Tower, the Hien Luong - Ben Hai Special National Monument (Quang Tri), the opening ceremony of the "Cycling for Peace " Festival took place, with the participation of 600 athletes.

This is the opening event of a series of main activities of the 2024 Peace Festival held in Quang Tri province.

The "Cycling for Peace" festival was organized by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province in coordination with Thanh Nien Newspaper, with a cycling parade from the Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Monument to the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery - Fidel Park, along with many other meaningful activities such as: Burning incense to pay tribute to heroic martyrs, giving gifts to families with revolutionary contributions, and students in difficult circumstances.

Mr. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, emphasized that Vietnam is a peace-loving country, more than anyone else, the Vietnamese people clearly recognize the value of peace; expressed the wish that each person present at the "Cycling for Peace" Festival will be a messenger for peace, conveying the desire for peace of the Vietnamese people in general and the people of Quang Tri in particular in the struggles for peace; building a message towards a peaceful, stable and prosperous world .

With those expectations, the bicycles of the "Cycling for Peace" Festival parade on the morning of June 29 also carry the ideas and messages of peace that the Organizing Committee wants to convey, which will be integrated and expressed through each destination and each activity at the destinations.

In particular, the 17th Parallel - Hien Luong Bridge - Ben Hai River, the opening place of the "Cycling for Peace" Festival, is also the place that marks the pain of the country's division for more than 20 years (1954-1975).

This is not only a place of gratitude but also an embodiment and convergence of the aspiration for peace and national unity...

Here, when the group of 600 cyclists paraded across the old Hien Luong bridge, doves and balloons were released into the blue sky by delegates and students, praying for peace.

Delegates presented gifts to families with revolutionary contributions and students in difficult circumstances within the framework of the Cycling for Peace Festival.

Within the framework of the Cycling for Peace Festival, at the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Monument on June 30, a cycling race around the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel with the theme "Peaceful Destination" will take place with the participation of 300 athletes.

The 2024 Peace Festival in Quang Tri province also has many main activities such as: The special art program Opening the Peace Festival with the theme "Connecting bridges" held at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Monument on the evening of July 6; Cultural - Culinary Festival "Taste of the sunny flower land" at Cua Viet beach tourist area from July 12 to July 14; Music exchange program "Melody of peace" with Trinh Cong Son's music night "Peace song" at Fidel Park on the evening of July 13; "Peace wish" program on the evening of July 26 at Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, Flower release wharf on the south bank of Thach Han river and Liberation Square of Quang Tri town, Quang Tri province.
