Princess Owl - a colorful world of adventure

In the Fairy Age bookshelf of Kim Dong Publishing House in 2025, writer Khanh Lien brought to young readers a special children's story collection: Princess Owl. The book is a continuation of the author's children's writing series after The Pencil-Sharpening Girl and the Cuckoo Parrot (2014) and Saving Santa Claus (2017).

Princess Owl consists of 17 short stories revolving around the world of animals and plants. Under the innocent pen of writer Khanh Lien, the characters appear funny, playful and adorable. Stories such as: The Moon Case, Teacher Frog, Seven-Color Carrot, Miss Tiger, or Cloud Wedding ... have opened up a world of adventure full of surprises. There, giraffes can chat with piglets, owls become princesses in the Xi Xi kingdom, and tigers or mice can also apply to be the king's son-in-law.

The attraction of the work is not only in the humorous plot but also in the richness of images and colors. Perhaps, because she was an art teacher in Ninh Thuan (old), Khanh Lien brought into each story the sparkle and brilliance of the world of paintings. Each page of the book is like a small painting, where children can both read and see the world with their soaring imagination.

Writing for children is always a challenge, because the writer must maintain innocence and purity. Writer Khanh Lien has done that by immersing herself in the souls of children. Her characters are not heavy on philosophy but exude innocence, wit, and closeness to the age of under 10. A cloud wedding can also make readers laugh, an owl becoming a princess also makes young readers feel familiar and magical.

Writer Khanh Lien is a member of the Vietnam Writers Association , her life is closely connected with students in the old Ninh Thuan region. She loves simple moments, sometimes sitting in a coffee shop watching the streets and then nurturing small stories. Perhaps it is this simplicity that makes her works naturally touch the hearts of young readers.
