Maintain border security, creating a solid foundation for socio-economic development

Before, during and after the Provincial Party Congress, when hostile forces and criminals often took advantage of the time to increase their sabotage activities, the Quang Ninh Provincial Police proactively and synchronously deployed drastic measures to protect border security, maintain political stability and social order and safety. Thanks to that, the security environment was absolutely guaranteed, creating a solid foundation for local socio-economic development.

On August 31, 2025, at the sea area of ​​Vinh Thuc commune, Quang Ninh authorities promptly discovered and prevented the illegal entry of 20 Chinese people into Vietnam by speedboat. Immediately after receiving the information, the Provincial Police Investigation Security Agency quickly coordinated with the Border Guard to investigate and clarify the methods and tricks of the subjects.

At the police station, suspect Luong Van Nam, residing in Zone 1, Mong Cai 1 Ward, confessed: The Chinese promised me a high salary. I did not have a stable job so I accepted. When I went to the sand dunes in Tra Co, a Chinese man gave me a 3-engine boat to go to the wind farm (the sea border between China and Vietnam) to pick up 20 people and run towards Van Don. They said that when we got back to Van Don, someone else would pick us up.

From the cases of illegal entry, the foreigners admitted that their purpose of entering Vietnam was to find a way to a third country or to carry out other illegal activities. Hua Thanh Nam, a native of Guangxi, China (one of the illegal entrants) said: I went to Vietnam to go to Cambodia to find a job, because in China I could not get a passport, so I had to travel through Vietnam to go to Cambodia.

Investigation results show that the subjects took advantage of the long and wide coastal terrain, used high-powered motorboats, changed vehicles frequently, and organized to pick up people at night to avoid detection by the authorities. Notably, they also lured local people without stable jobs to participate in and assist in illegal activities.

Since the beginning of 2025, the functional forces in the province have detected and handled 25 cases with 105 cases of illegal entry and exit; prosecuted 10 cases, 20 defendants. The timely fight and suppression of cases not only contributes to preventing the risk of violating national security, preventing criminal activities but also maintains stability on the border, creating a safe environment for socio -economic development.

Along with immigration control, Quang Ninh Provincial Police have implemented many plans to combat cross-border crimes such as drugs, smuggling, human trafficking, and transportation of prohibited goods. Coordination between the Police, Border Guard, Customs and local authorities has been strengthened, forming a solid "steel shield" to protect border security.

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Khanh, Deputy Head of the Security Investigation Department (Provincial Police) said: Implementing the direction of the Provincial Police leadership, the security force has proactively strengthened its grasp of the situation, coordinated to strictly handle violations, especially cases related to national security and illegal immigration. The goal is to avoid passive and unexpected situations, strictly control the area, and ensure security and order.

Proactive and drastic efforts in protecting border security have contributed to maintaining political stability and social order and safety, creating a solid foundation for Quang Ninh to develop its economy and society rapidly and sustainably in the new period.
