The Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has just sent a document to the Executive Committees of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in provinces, cities, pagodas, and monasteries nationwide requesting to ring the bell and drum three times to pray for national peace and prosperity on the morning of July 1.

Specifically, the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha said that July 1, 2025 is the first day of operation of the new provinces and cities after merging and operating the two-level local government model nationwide.

“This is an extremely special historical event in the process of the nation entering a new era of prosperous development.

With the tradition of Buddhism accompanying the nation in every stage of history, the Standing Committee of the Executive Council requests the Executive Committees of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in provinces and cities; pagodas and monasteries nationwide to ring the bell three times and drum the Heart Sutra to pray for national peace and prosperity, chant sutras and perform spiritual rituals to pray for peace, arouse the strength of national unity, the sacred soul of the mountains and rivers of Vietnam", the document of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha wrote.

The ceremony will take place simultaneously across the country at 6am on July 1.

A representative of the Central Office of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha said that pagodas and monasteries across the country simultaneously ringing the bell three times, chanting sutras, praying for national peace and prosperity, and chanting sutras... are done many times, on important national holidays and on War Invalids and Martyrs Day, July 27 every year./.
